At least our first signing is an immediate improvement for our midfield. We should be happy about that.
Having said that, if he ends up being the only 'top' midfield reinforcement, then it would be incredibly underwhelming. Can isn't solving the issues of lack of technical quality in midfield.

He's very suited to play in Serie A. His style of play is very close to Khedira with more energy. And almost the only criticism we have on Sami is his energy levels during a game.

Our (lack of) technical ability is exposed in Europe. You can start Sturaro in Serie A and still win. Can would be an improvement in terms of Serie A but you need just more than Can to have a CL quality midfield

He's technically very good. I don't know how you conclude otherwise. Still young too, he can be a force in UCL in coming years. The only negative I see in him is being injury-prone, but so was Khedira before he joined us. Our medical staff is good (most of the time).

I don't think he will be the only one. It would be stupid considering we get him for free lol. That was the whole entire point of pursuing him with as much effort as we have, so we CAN use our full budget on other quality players. That what we don't tap into the transfer budget yet.

I've seen him enough to say he won't be a difference maker. If he's technically good, then we have very low standards I guess. We used to have likes of Pogba and Marchisio who are levels above him technically. For me he'll be a good player in a working system but we need more than that considering we have enough players of a similar profile(Matuidi, Khedira etc)

with all the talks of us going for Martial/Morata I wouldn't be surprised if we splashed it all for attack for 3rd summer in row and tried to fix midfield 5 minutes before the window closes

I'll tell ya what though: Those two players will require some serious effort to bring here but we have a pool of decent CM's we can choose from in Italy that will require little effort because they have release clauses AND would improve our midfield. Pellegrini, Torreira, and Cristane. Only problem is if we spend too much on attack but I see Beppe trying to get one of them on a two year loan or something like that. I think we will sign one of the 3 CMs I listed.
