I kind of have respect for him now I've read his life story.

- Almost died at the age of 16 because of ruptured spleen
- No one believed in him, because he is so small
- First played in Serie C1 just 3 seasons ago
- First played in Serie B just 2 seasons ago
- First played in Serie A just a season ago
- Now plays for Juventus

He'll probably be average. But always nice to hear a comeback story.

His progression in the last 3 seasons is also good, but he is kind of old now to be called a talent.

I already edited Ice's response to give my opinion :D

Honestly, I have never really noticed him before. And considering that he's a 26 year old, playing in my favourite league, that says something.
Essentially, he strikes me as (yet another) gamble and, what's worse, an unnecessary signing.
I think he suffered a couple of long-term injuries that halted his presentation at a younger age. Not sure.

EDIT: jussr post in details

Every Serie B level player can now dream of playing for Juventus one day. That is so much achievable these days.

Nice story, I hope one day they make a movie out of it.

He'll join training later.

Few details emerging. It's 3 Million + free loan of Martinez for Giaccherini, not half, all of him. We're also paying half of Martinez's wages not all of them.

It's not a bad deal and he's a decent player. But he can't be our first option, eh? :shifty:

He's one of the few Italians who's actually fast.

I hope we get a proper LW, though.

The deal sounds better., if he fails, we can proberly sell him to another club for somewhere near $3mil or much less, doesnt matter as it aint huge money. How long is giachs contract and how much will he be earning?

Martinez gets another chance to redeem himself, allowing us to sell him the season after.

I hope he's a back up but he's better than Pepe IMO.
he is a far better player than Pepe.

Much better.

Some people automatically go the stats when comparing the two players from last season, and how their numbers are eerily similar, and come to the conclusion that they are the same level of player.

That is simply not true. This is the "Giovinco Syndrome" all over agian when using stats to gauge a player.

The simple eye test will tell you who the better player is, and it is not even close.

Having watched Pepe both at Udinese and Juve, it is very easy to see that he was a bit player for both of those teams. It is also easy to forget that some of the quality of the goals that Pepe scored last year were of the Steve Urkel "Oops, Did I do thhhhaaaaaaaatttttt????????" variety.

Pepe never was, is, or ever will be, a catalyst or a protagonist on any team.

Giaccherini was a protagonist for Cesena last year. The quality of his goals were far superior to that of Pepe. Giaccherini was a key component for them last year. Pepe was never that type of player
