Not really, on XT most dutchies dont rate Elia as much anything but a player who some flair/explosiveness, but rarely does much of anything. Yet to be impressed by him in the few Hamburg games I seen, generally overdribbles and complicates himself too much.

good coaching could take care of that. u must admit he has a lot of talent to worked with...just needs a proper coach to screw on his head a bit better tactically

Yeah he has talent, but he needs to show that more clearly before he is hyped up to something he is not. In Hamburg he is mainly bench player and inconsistent. Wouldnt be someone to come in and directly improve of us off the bat, or better then other options like mentionned by few (not as good as Bastos for example).

Like Osman said, I was clearly joking with that comparison there, but I'm not surprised the Giovinco-is-our-saviour-fanboys took offence. How very typical and extremely tiring.

Elia is in a nasty place and listening to the kind of things HSV's former manager Veh said to him, it's not surprising he never played or did well when he did. My point is that Elia is young and not part of our NT for no reason... He can be a very good player and with some experienced big names around him in a new environment and some believe in his abilities, he might be worth the gamble. He is the kind of player to constantly take on his opponents and he does tend to overdo his moves, but that shouldn't be a huge problem. Not every 'flashy' player has to be(come) a Quaresma. He would come at a 1/4th orso of Bastos' price and clearly has the talent to cause mayhem on the left wing.

I'm not saying he'd be a big signing, but one that could really surprise us for a few million. He'd run to Juve if he had the chance.

another case of dutch people overrating dutch players

he has no endproduct, peroid

else he wouldnt be benched all the time
How the heck did Ken overrate him? All he said is the kid has potential if he was in the right environment under the right conditions he could turn out to be a great player with a great bargain. Potential is not factual nor is it overrating.

Really, because you and Wahdan were clearly having an Elia vs Giovinco discussion back then.. And I wasn't only talking about you. Many people were jumping on the change to tell how Elia is better. For some reason people started dissing Seba as if he was playing like Motta all of a sudden.

Anyway, personally I like Elia and would love to have him with us in Conte's 4-2-4.

Ken is pretty much the expert on dutch football, and he was telling the truth about the environment at HSV & Veh being the factors to Elia getting benched. There's no doubt that Elia is talented. He's just need the right manager and environment, and he'll do great.

I actually was, the smiley really should've done the trick there. I do admit I said that to add a bit of fuel to the fire.

I think most people diss Seba simply because he isn't at Juve, but plenty of people bring him into almost every discussion. I have to admit that I like Giovinco and do rate him, but sometimes feel like just being negative about him simply because of the, at times, ridiculous overrating and endless discussions people tend to have about him. It's like a natural reaction to slow some people down. :p

And before you ask, yes.. I'd take Seba back to Juve, but since it's pretty sure he's staying at Parma... pffft, lost interest.

Hardly an expert, but I've watched Elia a lot in our league and for our NT. Other than some top games, I don't really watch our league anymore, not like back then, that's why I'm often lost when people ask about players in the Dutch league now. :D

He's just a player who I feel a change of environment could do wonders for.. I've said this for plenty of players, with them rarely being Dutch at all. But hey..

But thats a weird reason don't you think? I think Andy was talking about this issue recently.

Anyway, I think the debate surrounding Seba is gone. He has shown that he's a good player and most people have no doubts about him. These days you sometimes see Kasaki or Hustini campaigning for Seba but thats about it :D
