SerieA has a bad name in Holland, the defensive football, the scandals from the last few years all didn't do much good to the reputation of the league.
If the rumour then appears that a Dutch player can also pick an English team over an Italian, it is normal that many Dutch people think the Dutch player made the wrong choice.
IF Elia performs well, this will change.

The articles state that his manager said Elia thinks this stuff, but for what you know, he was just trying to get an EPL club to make an offer so he can negotiate bigger deals with us, you don't know how people deal with stuff like this.
I am sure he'll give his all since he wants to keep his selection for the NT, especially with Affelay not playing and with Robben injured more of the season then fit, he knows that, if he plays, he'll be called up for the NT.
