so a player to shit on basically ?

he can not show how world class he is just like giovinco can not show if he is world class by playing for parma.

to show that he is world class would mean that he could gain a starting place in a star studded team that plays for international honours (which he was not even able to in our team).

going to some hamburg like club who do not even have a good left winger and failing to play there is no sign of world class, neither is going to some english team that do not even compete for the top spot.

the usual definition of world class is that a player has such a high quality that he would be chosen in a team or even squad that should represent the best of the world. elia will never be chosen for an all star team. there are so many players better on the position he likes to play that you can not even talk about him being national class (meaning best of his nation/country).

If Conte frozen him out the way he did, i think it must be because of some technical issues with him. I mean, lack of adaptation and willingness to comprehend orders and so on. He seemed to have the skill to start working.... but well ..

To be sincere, since the first moment we unveiled him, i got that sense of "why we bought him?" feeling.

As i previously mentioned i think it was Conte's every intention to play Elia to being with under the 4-4-2 system, however since Conte realised the strength of our midfield trio and how influential Pirlo would be elia's inability to adapt his game and his lack of diversity made him surplus to requirements

Hey, I'm a Newcastle United fan and we're strongly linked with buying this player (and allegedly lost out on him when he signed for you guys).

It's interesting reading the comments about him, he reminds me a lot of Ben Arfa - nobody ever doubted his ability on the ball, but he was kept on the bench for the first half of this season. He just looked out of place in the team due to his lack of tactical awareness, work rate, and the rare times he managed to get involved in the game, he'd just dribble until he lost the ball. Despite his bad reputation, he kept a great attitude, trained hard, and slowly adapted to the way the team plays. He got a chance in the first team, and has been a key player since, and is likely to be heading to the Euro's with France. I'm not sure how well know he is on the continent, but he's really something else, a joy to watch (www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iXigKaL93k).

Back to Elia - can anyone see the similarities? Talented, questionable attitude, teams seemingly frustrating by and/or giving up on him. Do you guys think, if he got was able to adapt tactically and got a run in the team, that he could consistently produce good performances? Or is he simply not good enough? I feel that eventually these players realise that they need to do something or else never achieve their potential, and Elia could be on the edge of doing just that. Maybe as such a competitive team, Juventus can not afford to give him the chances he needs?

thats right, we can not afford giving him any time just for the kicks of it, because we want to challenge for silverware. he got a shot or two in the coppa iirc but even those few appearances did not convince anybody (but his fanboys). it should tell you enough, if he gets only brought onto the pitch if you already lead 4-0 or something.

In the coppa games he looked kinda dangerous..... but for the amount of time he got benched, something definitely must be wrong.

I think that conte didnt used him because he didnt had a good balance of offense/defense and understanding of our formations, in comparison with our other wingers.

We owe our Coppa Italia final appaerance to Claudio, Elia, Vucinic
