Well, it seems like a done deal, and many of us will still be Edgar's fans even though he's moving, so I think it's fitting that we follow his progress and chat about what he gets upto at the Nou Camp.

How do you guys think Davids will fit into Barca's lineup? Will he be a consistent fixture in the first eleven?

I really dont like Barca as a club. So i was quite sad to see edgar go there. Frankly, i do feel hes going to stagnate as a player at Barca. Its a weakening club and the culture prevelant off late is an acceptance as a mid table team. Even with its very existent dutch base they are very dissapointing.

    DAVIDS APROVES THE MEDICAL TESTS

He will be presented as Barcelona's new player at 18:00.

READY. Davids is in pefect conditions and this afternoon he will be a new azulgrana player.

    EFE

The dutch Edgar Davids, that will be officially presented this afternoon (18 hours) as a new player for Barcelona, has approved the medical check, said Jordi Ardévol, responsible of the medical services of FC Barcelona

The dutchman went under the habitual checkings. A radiological checking, an analitical, an effort test, an ecocardiography (?), a muscular potency test and a general exploration.

"Fisically, knowing he is 31 years old and a dilated carreer, you can see he is a player that has taken care of himself. He is a good profesional, a player that likes to be well prepared" said the Barcelonist doctor

    "He is compensated and controlled".

Adrévol has assured that Davids will have to improve his physical condition, but that the two medical problems that he has had in his carreer, a broken tibia and fibula in 1997 and a glaucoma in 2000 are "well done".

"The ocular problem (he needs special glasses) doesnt alter his deportive exhaustion. He is compensated and controlled, in perfect condition", he said.

Joan Laporta: "Juventus' cession is free and Edgar gave up on some things to come to Barca; I want to publicly thank his effort. Soon both parties will talk to see if we can longer our link. Im convinced it'll be that way, because Davids will give us a great performance. He is a person mentally mature, a great fighter and an extraordinary player. Without a doubt he is our second mediatic "crack"

Davids started thanking the president and the techical staff for the oportunity that theyre giving him to play in a club like Barca. Afterwards he wished that "my integration be fast" and he explained that "its good for the two parties to get to know each other better so at the end of the season we can decide if we'll remain together", a decission that he made even though Barca doesnt classify for the next edition of the Champions League.

The dutch midfielder also commented his opinion respecting Frank Rijkaard's groups: "This season so far I've seen the team play. I think in most matches to score goals was missing, but besides that the team is good and the actual deportive project has future."

    He will wear number 3

Edgar Davids will wear number 3 in his blaugrana stage, a number that became free after Patrick Anderson left. The dutchman, that wore number 26 in Juventus, cannot wear this number in Barca because in the spanish league numbers superior to 25 cannot be worn, because they're reserved for the primavera players that go into the first team. Nowadays number 26 is used by Ramon Ros.
