Our relationship with PSG is going to be important here, especially as we are still looking to poach their best kids. Arab guy will tell us to piss off most likely.
Don't worry they live on borrowed time atm. The moment the country of eternal liberty, freedom and constitution doesn't need an arab anti-Iranian support or they decide to use their own money they way they see fit... well another Arab spring can come at any time of the year - summer or winter.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Morata's future, and the fact that his future is tied into a good sum of money, I would not be surprised if Marotta is knocking on doors and preparing for different scenarios. Nothing guarantees that Morata will stay. Similarly, nothing guarantees that if we try to get Cavani or Oscar or Isco or Gotze that we would actually land them. It is good business to approach all those players and negotiate for the best price we can get and then pick and choose when we find out what will happen to morata, how much money we will have to spend as a result, which positions need purchases and how much each candidate will really cost.

These rumors don't have to be bullshit and just by approaching a player that doesn't mean we are hell bent on buying him at any cost. We do the same thing on Fifa and FM when we dont know which of our shortlisted players will agree to come and at what price. I go after two or 3 good strikers that will fit my team for instance when I only need one and after I've agreed a price for each, I compare the 3 deals and pick the best one. I also pursue some expensive players that I currently can't afford unless I manage to get a good price on selling one of my own players. Marotta is probably doing the same kind of thing. Its the right thing to do.

Oscar? Since when? And I doubt Cavani is our primary target. Looks like the media are choosing our targets again and fans are falling for it.
I thought you were on board :(

Would it really be necessary to pap Mandzukic for Cavani? I guess it would depend on our planned formation for next year. Berardi must surely be coming, which would suggest a formation with wingers, or perhaps he's planned as a trequartista as some of yous were talking about the other day.

In that case Cavani, Mandzukic, Dybala, Morata and Zaza. 5 CFs for 2 spots. Not THAT bad.

I'm fucking dreaming, I know :D I just don't want to say goodbye to Mario

The question is, would Mario be OK with a backup role. Im sure Cavani wouldnt be rotated a lot, hed start whenever hes fit, and that means less playing time for Mandzukic. Knowing him hed chose to leave instead.

But we arent getting Cavani so... :p

What? You think it's beyond The Great Man?

You know the other thing about Cavani is that he can play pretty fucking well as a winger. Not just any winger either but one who does his fucking bit defensively. Juventus material, in other words.

He fits us so well that it fucking hurts.

- - - Updated - - -

Buffon
Licht Bonucci Chiellini Sandro
Khedira Marchisio Pogba
Berardi-----------Cavani
Mandzukic

That team would pillage anybody we might come up against through sheer hard work nevermind all of the technical skill in there.

- - - Updated - - -

You can even stick Cuadrado on the right there.

We need Edi. If it's him or Morata I go for Cavani. I seriously believe that with him we can expect to win the Champions League the same way that Bayern or Madrid fans do now.

- - - Updated - - -

Somebody stop me, I can't stop looking at that lineup. I can barely type past the stiffy it's giving me.

he is not coming here to feed mandzu or morata or any other CF.

If he comes, it will be to be the main man and win the CL...

Sick of seeing center forwards play on the wing. Morata or Cavani.
He plays there for Uruguay and I believe for Paris too. He can play both positions.

That was an idea I was putting forward to show how he wouldn't be coming to simply replace Morata. He's so much more than a straight replacement for anybody we have.

I absolutely get that Cavani would be the best CF on the team and should be starting up there next to Dybala. It's not the only option, though, and tactical flexibility is never a bad thing to have.

Nice troll. Very subtle :D

Can we limit the posting of shitstain crappy formations that obviously suck to the mercato thread ?

thanks

Seriously though this might seem like sarcasm but I'm genuinely interested in hearing why that would suck so much? Granted I've not seen much of Berardi but from what I've read he seems like a standard pacy left-footed right winger who cuts in type of player. Putting Cavani on the other wing just seems to add balance? Come on Zach, it's not like I'm suggesting we put Bonucci on the wing - Edi has a hell of a lot of experience playing out wide and he's effective at it, too.

Once again I'll point out that if we sign Cavani I hope to see him at centre forward with either Dybala or Mandzukic. That's where he will win us a CL as Hydde put it.

Dont take that too serious. I'm just tired of seeing formations that dont work, or are based on thin air.

Marotta wants to keep Morata. He's contacting Cavani as a way of pressure, and to have a plan b. We arent just going to overpay Cavani wages, AND have all the others here.

But listing a formation without Dybala. Cmon. if it was that 451 we used against Bayern, i could understand. But we arent going to bench our best forward to fit in 3 different ones.

Point taken about Dybala. As for the rest of it I would just love to see Mandzukic and Cavani in the same team. The workrate and goalscoring power between them would be immense. I understand though that it would be akin to England trying to play Lampard and Gerrard all the time.
