berardi and dybala has the potential to become a world class player. zaza is more of a super sub. cavani is on the decline so he won't do us a favour. also considering morata is doing well, i recon morata will be better than cavani in a few years time.
with all respect to Morata, he won't be like cavani. different type of strikers.

I mean, could you picture Tevez and Cavani together in Serie A?

The same Cavani who raped this league for three years running in Napoli, but this time playing alongside Tevez?

:howler:

The rest of the league should just cancel their matches against Juve. There would be no point

Even if Cavani is overrated he'd still be the best #9 we've had in Years and it's not even close.
The thing is, where is everybody getting this "overrated" crap from? He's playing 2nd fiddle to Ibra, but still is scoring a goal every two matches in all competitions.

Put him as a #9 on this squad?

For every player that lives up to their maximum potential, there are 2 dozen nobodies playing in shit teams that were once dubbed the next 'Insert WC player here'

We're not fucking Udinese, we need to get a mixture of young prospects AND proven players.

i never said that. i said that morata in a few years will be a much better striker than cavani would be in a few years. rather stick to youth then old rotting wood.
he won't be much better than Cavani. Moratta still has many flows, and i doubt that he will improve it. Cavani is like a lightweight bull. am not saying Moratta is bad striker, but still his road is full of doubts. i agree that Dybala has the potential to be even better than Cavani. and again i agree in investing in young players. but it is Zamparini that we are talking about, he managed to sell Amauri for 25mil.

Well, to be fair, look at who he was dealing with.

Yet Zamparini sold Cavani to Napoli for 17 million. It's no wonder why De Laurentis is nice to him. I'd be nice too if someone sold me a filet mignon for the same price as a double cheeseburger.

And for those who are saying that 28 is old.

If that is the case then they never should have purchased Nedved, right?

Or Tevez for that matter.

Because they were both older than Cavani is at that time

Not to mention that Del Piero turned 28 in 2002 and played for us for another 10 years...

i think we have many proven players we just need a few more talented youngsters. considering that psg and cavani did not go through against barca despite them having a great defence and midfield to support them, what chance do we have with cavani to go through? cavani won't make a diffrence because he has already shown that he makes no diffrence against elite competition.

bottom line is, Dybala for logical price. or get Cavani who will instantly justify his price tag.

PSG's problem was more due to their coach. Cavani was monster with Napoli even in CL. this guy with our team will be sublime.

This!...couldn't have said it better.
Cavani would be an AMAZING signing if it can be done.
One of the best CF's in the world right now.

And here is the funny thing about all of this.

With all the advances in nutrition and medicine and fitness, even in the past decade, being 28 as a footballer these days is a lot different than being 28 even as recently as 2002.

Imagine we sign Cavani in summer then pick up Dybala on a free next year to replace Tevez when he leaves for Boca.

2015/16 - Tevez, Cavani, Morata, Zaza?

2016/17 - Cavani, Morata, Dybala, Zaza/Berardi

I don't know. Players seem to be peaking earlier now than they were back 10-15 years ago.

Yeah, I don't understand people. Sure, age still matters. But you have Zlatan being a monster at 33, Robben who is peaking at 31 (and has seemingly got faster) and Ronaldo, quite possibly the fittest of them all at 30.

And if we assume that speed is usually the first thing to go: three of the world's top 5 100m runners in 2014 were 32, while it has often been said that the ideal age for a sprinter is 25.
