Cavani may have never developed into the player he is now had he no gone to Napoli. He might've turned into another Amauri with us, given the weight of expectation he'd have been under at the time, and at such a young age.

Chelsea in for him with a 45m offer. I just realised how fucked up it is, that DiMatteo is now Chelsea coach, that means another Italian backed by money, like Mancini - who will use Serie a and Juve as a reference point to chase and get targets that we maybe after.

I wouldn't consider it impossible that Napoli would give Cavani a big wage to convince him to stay one more year.

It would have to be with a view to it just being one year, though, as probably Napoli couldn't commit to that big a wage over a longer period.

It's not impossible, but Napoli missing out on the CL makes it unlikely.
