That's the most important part. 2 years is great, means we aren't stuck beyond expiration date. We can always extend for an additional year if he's still got something left in the tank

Statman lol
At this point the gloves are off.
Anything Dzeko related I see I'm posted here LOLOL

Why? They aren't going to leave a striker at home when another one hasn't been signed yet. lol its not like Milik is already in the lineup.

#Fonseca on #Dzeko at the press conference: Has the #ASRoma improved with #Milik instead of the Bosnian? "Tomorrow #Dzeko will be with us, it makes no sense to talk about this"

Madness from our upper management that we enter the first game of the season without a CF.... It’s a hanging offence in my book. This transfer merry go round we are involved in and the ones to be hindered is us. It’s not like we’ve had 6 weeks to prepare for this...

You got to remember this is a very unique situation we are all in. Roma went through an ownership change and transfer management, covid situation, the fact that roma have sold players to raise funds, and we've had to concentrate on clearing our house too which is not something that is done in a matter of a couple of days, all this was bound to create merry go rounds in a time when there is very little money being exchanged right now.

Yep and that’s the reality we are now living with - none of that is surprising or shocking - Covid is now 9 months old and shouldn’t be a surprise to our senior management. On day 1 of Pirlo we knew we didn’t want Higuain. But why did we release him if we didn’t have a replacement ready?

Why did we go big on Suarez only to realise 2 weeks later we actually couldn’t sign him because he was a non eu? Don’t make an excuse for incompetence. We shouldn’t be involved in a merry go round during the first game of the season leaving us totally exposed in a pretty crucial area of the pitch...

Dzeko is surprisingly not that good with headers. Here are the stats of top 5 leagues for the past 5 seasons. You can see he had/managed to get a ton of headers, more than any other player (197), while only 15 of them went into the net. Good luck to him when he gets 1 good cross/90min here.

The biggest surprise is Pavoletti from Cagliari dominating the chart.

here stats per 90min and again Pavoletti beasts with 0,275 header goals/90min with Giroud's 0,269g/90m behind him.

Dzeko was always our first option then even he wasn't sure about moving due to his wife giving birth

Suarez was plan B because of this.

If you want to see actual incompetence then have a look at Ed Woodward at man utd this summer, exception of VDB he can't even land any of the targets.

Dzeko for 16m while Thiago for 30m because his contract is expiring. We should been able to negotiate the price and make Roma feel this is the last year they can cash in for 34 Dzeko.

We always looks as a loser when it come with negotiation to buy or to sell

I've seen a lot of fans on socials saying they want Mandzu back. I get he's a lovable figure and was treated poorly by the management and all but logically it wouldn't make sense. He's far past it now and well and truly washed up; you could see it in the way he played.

Tuttosport on Suarez/Dzeko:
why did Juventus choose Dzeko ? And what happened with Suarez , protagonist of the fastest exam in the world (it took him less to demonstrate that he knew the rudiments of Italian to the professors of the University of Perugia than to explain to the Italy-Uruguay referee that he did not bite the shoulder of Chiellini)? Let's go in order and analyze the various factors.

PIRLO FACTOR - Edin Dzeko is a player strongly desired by Andrea Pirlo, which has always considered it the best among those available. The new Juventus coach has a tactical project around Dzeko and knows how to insert it into the game system he has developed in this period. Pirlo, therefore, weighed in the decision. And Pirlo's weight is considerable: he is a man chosen by the president. That said, Dzeko was a strong option even before Pirlo's arrival on the bench. It was from early July that the Bosnian was framed by the radars of Fabio Paratici, another great admirer of the center forward since the time he played for Wolfsburg. In the end, Juventus brought home the striker everyone wanted: the management and the coach. And they brought home an exemplary professional, as well as a player who could make many fans fall in love.

GUN - And Suarez? Suarez was a flash that broke the Juventus market in the days following Koeman's landing at Barcelona on August 19th. When the Dutch coach explicitly declared him out of the project (in the same way that Pirlo had done with Higuain), Suarez called Pavel Nedved to propose himself. An unusual gesture in the market of agents and intermediaries, but a gesture that opened an unexpected scenario on the Juventus table. Suarez showed up motivated and, above all, free. Because until that moment - Juventus and Barcelona had talked a lot in May to combine the exchange between Arthur and Pjanic - the possibility of taking the free Uruguayan had never emerged. At that moment, therefore, Juventus is at a crossroads: on the one hand Dzeko,an objective in which everyone believes but which is dragging on for the well-known Roma-Milik events; on the other, Suarez, another champion, perhaps less liked by Pirlo, but certainly a coup.

THE PARALLELS - The management at that moment is moving forward on both operations. The terms with which Suarez can free himself are not clear, also because he does not have a real agent (a detail that will prove to be fatal), so Juventus does not give up Dzeko. In the space of a couple of days, however, he gets to grips with the situation and actually - after talking to Barcelona also for a matter of excellent relations between the two clubs - Suarez can free himself to zero. Until that moment, both Suarez and his lawyer, but also Barcelona itself have taken for granted the status of community, as also written in the official documents of the blaugrana club. And so, in the meantime, Paratici closes McKenniewith Schalke and occupies the last place as a non-EU player on the list. When, a few days later, there is the lunge for Suarez, it turns out that the status of community is linked only to the passport of his wife, Sofia Balbi, an Uruguayan of Italian origin. Escamotage considered valid in Spain, but not in Italy. If Suarez had had an agent, he would probably have had the precious document in his hand (there was negotiation to start a case two or three years ago and follow it consistently for a few months) or, in any case, Juventus would have learned of lack of passport. So, at that moment, the Suarez operation ran aground.

THE PRACTICES - Because in the space of a few days of investigation, Juventus understood that, despite having Suarez fully entitled to Italian nationality by virtue of that of his wife, the time to obtain it was too long. Membership for the Champions Leagueit would not have been possible and, in any case, it would have been necessary to wait beyond 5 October and to sign Suarez from free agent to advanced championship. From that moment on, the Suarez deal fell as suddenly as it appeared on the horizon of the Juventus market. And Dzeko is back to racing alone, also against time, but with shorter prospects. But why did Suarez continue the process to obtain nationality, given that Juventus was a vanished opportunity? For two reasons: the first is that the Dzeko negotiation presented, however, some small points of uncertainty and Juventus could think of an emergency plan (immediately Giroud, to be registered also in the Champions League, then Suarez to be released and to be played only in the championship until February);the second is that Suarez himself, realizing he does not have a European passport, decided to take it, also in view of a transfer that could take place by 5 October (but there are no offers for the moment), in January or at the end of the season. Even at Juventus? Difficult to say, but yesterday the "no" from Continassa were quite definitive.

COSTS - The Dzeko operation costs a total of 43 million euros. This is because he will earn 13.5 gross per season with a two-year contract and because 16 million will go to Rome . In the end, therefore, in the next two years it will weigh 21.5 million per season. The contours of what would have been the Suarez operation are not clear, but it transpires that it would have earned a figure of around 10 million net including the bonuses which, with the tax concessions of the growth decree, would have been 15 gross, therefore a total of 45 million ( since he would have signed a three-year contract) as well as a symbolic indemnity to Barcelona (one or two million at most). Therefore the annual weight ofSuarez operation would have been 15.5 . There is no doubt that the cost of Dzeko is considerable, also by virtue of the Bosnian's age, but drawing up evaluations and expressing judgments is now sterile chatter: the goodness of an investment always weighs on the field only. And Dzeko could start as early as Sunday evening.
