hhmmm sounds very impressive and i know what you mean about being overly critical of home grown players, to get such a rave review from you must mean hes a great player, i heard about wengers interest in him a while ago but was not aware bayern were after him. Lets hope Secco can snap him from underneath them!
Really the kid deserves all the praise he gets. Ever since Slaven Bilic took over as the coach of the Croatian NT, Modric has been an instrumental figure for us, even at such a young age. Modric, Da Silva, Corluka, Kranjcar and the rest of our young players have really risen our NT to the point where I actually enjoy watching our NT play.
If Secco snatched him somehow we would surely have a real gem on our hands.
Me too, I would be ecstatic. That's the best thing about him, he's a playmaker and just works so damn hard to help out the defense.

Luka Modric is the next big product from Croatia after Prosinecki, Boban and Asanovic and the world is yet to see him. If Juventus signed him, I would be the luckiest man in Rijeka and not because I´m Croatian, but because he is really good.

Though there is a Euro which we could host... I wouldn't go as far as saying we can win a WC but if we keep this coach and found our team on these youngsters we have now, I think there's a fair chance of Croatia making one more upset in the football world in the future.

why are people saying this player is the new so and so?
I hate it when people do that. It puts an unfair expectation on the player that he must live up to the reputation of the more famous name he is compared to. Add to that the fact you can almost never replace a player with a player that copies the same style, flair, heart and determination as the previous one.

He doesn't have a high reputation. In April 2005, Anderson played for Brazil in the South American U-17 Championship which Brazil lost in the final 3-0 to Mexico. In October, he won the "Adidas Golden Ball". His playing style is like Ronaldinho's likes to use space to his advantage, gets the ball through the smallest space, he can pull off the elastico, needs work but he has lots of time. He has to work on his body he's small, and he takes a lot of risks sometimes.

Well, his contract ends in 2008.
He's small, but the tackle itself was rough I was watching that game live like I do every Benfica match, and the tackle got the ball but it got his legs pretty bad too, so it was a very rough tackle, he's a great player though.
It makes more sense to say the next wonderkid, or a future world-class player, I agree I don't like comparing youngsters to big stars, because then there's really no reason for these kids to work hard if they are going to be remembered as a previous player.
We have to give credit to the youngsters, and forget about the stars we have now, they will one day retire, we have to give a name for these wonderkids, instead of just knowing one name, Ronaldinho.
