Hell yes!

Really it's not because the kid is Croatian, I am usually overly critical of our players, but this one is pure class. He plays for Dinamo Zagreb and the Croatian NT, attacking midfielder, can play on the left or in the center. He has great technique, dribbling and pace. But perhaps the most thing that relates him to our Pavel is his heart, he doesn't give up, when he looses the ball he runs after it even if it means going all over the pitch back and forth.

Arsenal's Wenger was amazed by his performance when they played against Dinamo in the CL qualifiers. He was asked after the match what he thought of Modric and he said he's a fantsastic player but a little too expensive for Arsenal...

Bayern Munchen are linked with him heavily and supposedly in the front to sign him. Though he won't come for anything less than 7,8mil Euro. Not much for a 21 year old who surely has a bright future ahead of him, I won't go as far as to say he is surely the new Nedved but they share a lot of similarities.
hhmmm sounds very impressive and i know what you mean about being overly critical of home grown players, to get such a rave review from you must mean hes a great player, i heard about wengers interest in him a while ago but was not aware bayern were after him. Lets hope Secco can snap him from underneath them!

Luka Modric is the next big product from Croatia after Prosinecki, Boban and Asanovic and the world is yet to see him. If Juventus signed him, I would be the luckiest man in Rijeka and not because I´m Croatian, but because he is really good.

Oh wait, but he doesn´t know how to defend ?

Really the kid deserves all the praise he gets. Ever since Slaven Bilic took over as the coach of the Croatian NT, Modric has been an instrumental figure for us, even at such a young age. Modric, Da Silva, Corluka, Kranjcar and the rest of our young players have really risen our NT to the point where I actually enjoy watching our NT play.

If Secco snatched him somehow we would surely have a real gem on our hands.

Me too, I would be ecstatic. That's the best thing about him, he's a playmaker and just works so damn hard to help out the defense.

yeah your young players in your national team are all pretty interesting prospects, croatia to win WC 2012?? ;)
There's no WC in 2012. :p Though there is a Euro which we could host...

I wouldn't go as far as saying we can win a WC but if we keep this coach and found our team on these youngsters we have now, I think there's a fair chance of Croatia making one more upset in the football world in the future. ;)

We've really hijacked this thread lets get back to Ederson. :p

He looks more of a striker than a midfielder......Any videos of his passing and dribbling abilities.....IMO we need more in that dept..

Those clips don't reveal much at all, I wouldn't rely too much on them. ;)

I would however like to hear some opinions on those that follow Ligue 1 and have seen him play full matches.

Nedved could teach him how to defend. He just needs to take on a few pounds, our medical staff are experts at that :pumpkin:

why are people saying this player is the new so and so?

I hate it when people do that. It puts an unfair expectation on the player that he must live up to the reputation of the more famous name he is compared to. Add to that the fact you can almost never replace a player with a player that copies the same style, flair, heart and determination as the previous one.

Go for Anderson, he's already proven his ability.

Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira
Brazilian
April 13, 1988 (age 18)
Left-footed
Attacking Midfielder, Winger
Likes being played Left, or Left-Center Attacking Midfielder.

For FC Porto, 13 appearances, 5 goals.
He's been injured for a few months since that mistimed tackled by Katsarounis (Benfica)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4wQjxZLhnH8

He began his season at Gremio just like Ronaldinho.

He doesn't have a high reputation. In April 2005, Anderson played for Brazil in the South American U-17 Championship which Brazil lost in the final 3-0 to Mexico. In October, he won the "Adidas Golden Ball". His playing style is like Ronaldinho's likes to use space to his advantage, gets the ball through the smallest space, he can pull off the elastico, needs work but he has lots of time. He has to work on his body he's small, and he takes a lot of risks sometimes.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=UEskPMbz1Ac - 2:54 of Ronaldinho.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=HHpwLqNAdRQ - 0:22 nice move, bad timing.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0QoRV7JuQOc - 1:20 of goals.

Linked to Juve, best options. (IMO)
1. Anderson
2. Ederson
3. Pato

Need I say more?
Well, his contract ends in 2008.

he is a good player, but he looks a bit fragile if that tackle injured him, he'll get a lot worse in italy!
He's small, but the tackle itself was rough I was watching that game live like I do every Benfica match, and the tackle got the ball but it got his legs pretty bad too, so it was a very rough tackle, he's a great player though.

It makes more sense to say the next wonderkid, or a future world-class player, I agree I don't like comparing youngsters to big stars, because then there's really no reason for these kids to work hard if they are going to be remembered as a previous player.

We have to give credit to the youngsters, and forget about the stars we have now, they will one day retire, we have to give a name for these wonderkids, instead of just knowing one name, Ronaldinho. :disagree:

So you guys want him based on one goal.
Exactly, I hope your talking about Ederson, Anderson has more than one goal, I watch Porto matches.

in fm Juventus cannot buy u18 brazilian players, thats some kind rule

Pato is 17 years old
That rule is somewhat true, Porto bought Anderson when he was 17, they couldn't play him only in Friendlies, they played him this year every single match, until he got injured.
