Portsmouth have made an eight million euro offer for CSKA Moscow's Brazilian midfielder Dudu Cearense, the player's agent has revealed.

Pompey were initially interested in bringing Nigerian striker Yakubu back to the club, but after he moved to Everton, they now appear to have turned their attentions to strengthening the midfield.

"The president of CSKA has received the document with the offer for Cearense," said Antonio Amorim.

"Valencia has also been asking about the player but for the moment the only team that has made an official proposal has been Portsmouth," he added, before revealing that Valencia were also tracking the player.

Dudu admitted his interest in moving to the Premiership, though admitted any transfer was dependent on whether the Russian champions would be prepared to sell.

"At this moment England has the most rich league in the world and I would be very happy to have the chance of playing there. For the moment I am in contract at CSKA for two more years so a transfer will only be possible if the officials of my current team agree in that I can leave."
