The problem is, you can't be #9 at a big club and only be relevant in the opponents 16 as a poacher. The last one I remember who could do that was Inzaghi. The classical 'fox in the box' isn't really used in modern day football that often anymore.
If you compare him to Kane, Benzema, Lewandowski, Oshimen or which ever elite striker, they all play an important role in the build up play as well. Heck, even someone like Giroud - to his capacities - played an important role in the build up play.
Unless you're anbsolute prolific machine in the box like Haaland or prime Suarez you could get away with only being present in the box. But yeah, those are 30 goal strikers per season.
