Where are the ppl here who were telling us how it was only media rumours about us trying to sell him and how foolish we were to believe them. Fools.

It doesn’t say we were “trying to sell him” lol

Guintoli literally says we didn’t want to sell him but were faced with financial realities that may have forced us to sell him if they offered enough.

This 100%

The media were pushing the narrative that we were openly putting him on the market and pushing for Chelsea to buy him.

Chelsea clearly asked for him, we gave our price, they offered us peanuts and the negotiations ended there. The media were talking about this deal that was supposedly happening for 3 months non stop.

Our Mister really believed in the Lukaku dream though.

Shame it didn't materialize leaving poor Allegro to play Chiesa with his back to goal

We really let Mister down by not giving him the superstars he desired.

So he was on the market but Chelsea didn't offer enough. Potato - potahto.

The important thing is that he stayed I guess and is doing good so far. I still have hopes for Guintoli but it's still Jj..

In our current state this is the case for every single player on the team. If a big offer arrives for a player, our financial situation means we will sell.it sucks, but it’s reality.

It doesn’t much look or sound like we were attempting to sell him. One team made an offer, it wasn’t enough so we didn’t sell him. We weren’t out looking to find a buyer or start a bidding war to get to the fee that we wanted for him.

Fait enough, but don't say you want to keep a player when you were shopping him out
But for this to be the case wouldn’t we have had to be out there actively looking to offload him? Chelsea made an offer. We refused it and said it wasn’t enough. We didn’t go looking to find other clubs to offer more.

Pretty sure we initiated the trade, all indications point that we have been talking to lukaku since spring, plus the way chelsea operate had they wanted dusan they would have paid 20% more than whatever we would have asked. Also i am not even mad at giuntoli. Clearly the number one problem is our ownership and its main and most painful symptom is our coach.

Fair enough. We only have what Guintoli said and of course he could very well be stretching the truth about Chelsea approaching us, though they may have made an offer and just not rated him highly enough to offer any more. But it’s possible we could have initiated it all.

I agree entirely about incompetent ownership and the coach being the worst symptom of this.

lukaku 9 goals in 9 games

vlahovic 4 goals in 6 games

lukaku plays twice per week AND for his international team

vlahovic can't even play once a week.

it was the right move swapping him for the better lukaku. too bad the clubs couldn't finalize the agreement. another way pogba deal ruined financed for juve
