I assume that happens in summer. Management just may not like the available CM options this winter. Summer mercato is a far better time to reinforce. But our inability to convert chances at a decent rate, or even put balls on net, forced their hand here. (Morty 15% conversion rate, Kean 22%, Vlahovic 28%)
After the signing of Vlahovic you're 2 good signings away from having a team that should be able to compete again imo - maybe just 1 signing with the right mid.

Still question marks regarding De Ligt's future though.

How is getting Scamacca less risky? He costs less? Sure, he also is having his best season ever right now with 9 goals, while being a year older. And would still cost 35-40 mil. And you still advocating for it as less risky? How so? Vlahovic shown for 2 years now he is a 20+ goal scorer in League alone. Scamacca shown that he has the ability to go over 10 goals? You want to risk spending 40 mil on a 23 year old who may be ~10-15 goal/season player?
You answered your own question. Scamacca also won’t get 7m and will be easier to offload in case he flops. With 4m wage and 40m fee he would cost half of Vlahovic annually.

Yeah. We have some extremely promising young CMs out on loan right now. One of them, Rovella, will certainly be in the squad next year. I’d say one good CM, one good LB, and bring Rovella and Fagioli back from loan spells and we have Scudetto-worthy squad again.

Chiesa will increase, let’s not forget that officially we’re loaning him. Same for Locatelli, although he’ll be a free loan next year aswel.

Then there are Costa, Pjaca, Mandragora etc who will make a lot of room.

We’re probably at healthy levels, but still facing maximum 5k capacity and not reaching CL is a big risk.

Btw Ronaldo annual costs were two players like Vlahovic in the books. If he remained, Vlahovic wouldve never been bought
At this point, if he continues his form, Vlahovic might proof to be an upgrade. Not in finishing ability but in general terms for the team.

Everybody whining about midfield and left back, should have their heads checked. Dusan is a fix for a more important position.

We obviously need a defensive mid and a left back too but those are easier positions to fill. World class numbers 9's don't grow on trees. We'll probably get a half decent Italian left back like Cambiaso and invest the rest of our budget in midfield.

He costs half, because he is older and is currently half the player. Which means you risk flushing 40 mil down the drain plus the associated loss of revenue from performing worse. It’s easily as big a risk.

I’d much rather take the risk with having Vlahovic come in and not develop past being 20-25 goalscorer, then risk a Bernadeschi type transfer again, where in 3-4 years a 40mil player is worth absolutely nothing.

De Ligt actually been linked to Bayern.

Just don't see it happen with him being a Raiola client and knowing we don't deal with him. You think he'll stay or move on in the summer?

Pirlo on a free and Vidal at significantly below market rate because Leverkusen wanted to spite Bayern. These opportunities don’t just pop up at random. As evidenced by the Bosman flops of Ramsey and Rabiot
The point is the philosophy not the opportunities. We won the league unbeaten and advanced to CL quarterfinals the year after by Vucinic and Quag as strikers.
anyway I’m more and more convinced we need that kind of management rather than power moves.

Let me ask you this: did we start our rise in 2011 by signing big name players? Or a few very good ones?
The biggest thing we did is bring in a coach we believed in and backed him with players HE wanted. I think we are doing that with Max. We brought in Locatelli to get the midfield better. We have a proper number 9 now. Do we still have holes to fill? Absolutely but remember last summer we didnt really have time to have a mercato post Ronaldo. People constantly saying we dont have the ability to make the squad better and over and over again we find the money. When we get rid of Ramsey, Rabiot and Sandro we will reduce wages a ton and be able to bring in players that fit the system for long term success. Next step is hold on to Dybala or make a plan for after hes gone.

You won’t flush it down. You get what you paid for. While having more resources for other holes.

Lol we spent 20 something mil on Matri. You forgetting that. And there are multiple ways to build successful teams. Vlahovic is 21. This isn’t a Higuain/Ronaldo style transfer of huge fee for a player making his last big move. Stop pretending it is. Even if he doesn’t develop past his current level he will still have decent resale value in a few years and is significantly better than our current options. And has a decade of top level football ahead of him.

Nonsense. 40 mil is a significant cost for mediocrity. And is definitely flushing it down the drain if he becomes another Berna/Costa/Kulu. Would much rather go in for a much higher floor + higher ceiling young player.

Anyways. We just aren’t gonna agree @Ronn

You’ve made your points. You could just consider letting people have a a few days to enjoy the club signing one of the best young strikers in football. Ya know, instead of trying so hard to be a killjoy from the moment it’s announced…

The conclusion I’ve come to reading this thread is some are sleeping so hard on Rovella. He is exactly what Allegri and this club needs in the midfield. If he wasn’t already owned by Juve he would be worth at least 25M and I bet those same people would be begging for him. Only starters we really need are a DM to fill out the midfield (easy to find, possibly even internally) and a LB (btw we also own the best LB in serie B in Beruatto, who is ready for serie A)

Yeah we have some holes to fill, but we just filled the biggest one. I would’ve been happy with Scamacca too, but there’s levels here.
