Drenthe is an amazing talent and I would love to see him given the opportunity to blossom at Juve. But I also recall some of his play being pretty good on the defensive end of the pitch too.

Swag, his positioning is pretty awful in LB position. He has the speed to recover and give defensive work in midfield, but in LB position, not so much.

he needs to learn how to act as a professional.
He is a headcase and an egomaniac (took his home team to frigging court). But its not to the degree he is totally out of control, he has just discplinary issues, that can be fixed.

Dominic, what do you mean with that? That he isnt good enough for Juve?

Dominic, is there even one Dutch player that you can give an objective analysis on? I mean, we get it that you don't like Dutch players, but this is getting ridiculous here.

The guy needs playing time and he is nowhere near ready to be an important starter at a club like juventus or madrid.

He is also kind of retarted. Seriously.

I agree about the retarded part for sure. And I would agree about playing time, If I didnt think he would get quite enough playing time in Juve. We hardly wingers (that are good enough, dont count Marchionni and Sali).

Nobody ever said Drenthe should be a starter, at least the people who know what they're talking about. He'd be a great player for the future though.

But OHHHH, I forgot, this is Juventus, we don't care about investing in youth players cuz we're a bunch of fucktards.

he makes too many mistakes to be a lb, if we get him it woukd be as a backup for Nedved
but guess what, what about Giovinco then???

:sigh: It doesn't take much to understand.. "needs playing time" does not tie in well with not being a starter.

So Dom, who are the dutch players you rate highly? I'm sure everyone is dying to know :D
I'm sure i've answered this one plenty of times..

But ok, here are some.

Cocu, Van Nistelrooy, Seedorf, Huntelaar, Van Bommel, Van Persie, the current Sneijder.., Barry van Galen :D (not sure if you know him), VdV on his day, Van Basten, Cruijf etcetera.

p.s. Fred, I can't beleive someone like you is taken for a fool so easily by Andy, off all people.

.

How about Robben?? Imo if it werent for his injuries he'd easily be one of the top wingers in Europe.

How so?

I give Dominic a lot of shit because he perpetually blasts his own nation's players, labels them overrated, and defects to the Azzurri where everybody is underrated in his opinion. The criticism is perfectly fair, yet Dominic doesn't understand that. He isn't mentally sound when it comes to Dutch football.

Can't be worse than Molinaro. :D

Seriously, the guy has problems and shortcomings up to his eyeballs. But I do like hearing the board willing to take risks like that -- even if the guy probably is better for loaning out before anything else (and we don't have a disciplinarian of a coach who can earn a young player's respect that way).

And yeah he always preached how he didn't want Sneijder, van der Vaart and Robben at Juventus because they're "overrated", among others. I suppose we just have to settle for his Di Natele or something.

I wouldnt take it that far, but you have to admit saying Sneider is overrated is a bit odd Dom. If i were in your place people wouldnt hear the end of how great my country is in football :D

I'm in two minds, he has good potential. Headcase or no headcase, i wouldnt say no to players like cassano or zlatan so i guess i'd give this guy a chance also.

I'm not sure about overrated, but if you forget his heroics at Euro and look at his season at Real, he wasn't really a WC player although he had some moments of brilliance. But of course if he can build on his Euro 2008 form and keep playing like this next season then considering him less than one of the best midfielders in the world is stupid.
