2 players who are so different and so alike at the same time

They are different as in they play in different positions and while Shearer depends on power and will to win, Dp is more on touch and his detractors will say his will is not so strong

How are they alike? Well they are both captains of their respective clubs who both play in black and white, they are both adored to almost ridiculous lengths by their fans, its like hero worship sometimes

But the one thing they are both doing right now is trying to break the record goal scoring of their respective clubs

The both seem to be 9 goals away from doing so, so who will get there first?
As for Shearer, it has to be this season as he is retiring after this, while Dp might not be at Juve next season either.

But lets give it up for 2 guys who have had their critics and in Shearer's case, has come back from 3 knee injuries which were career threatening and is almost 100 goals ahead of his nearest rival for most goals in premiership and to Dp who has had to deal with all sorts of garbage

While DP has had more than his fair share of injuries (which, may I add, have actually impacted his career more than Shearer's) the amount of criticism Shearer has endured is nothing compared to the stuff DP gets.

True... and as unrealistic as it may sound, it's not that easy to know which one has more impact on a player's career

I've never been a big Shearer fan and the thought of him on MotD has many English fans in tears of frustration, but he's a really great player. The power, positioning, heading, penalties, elbows to the head... Sorry, that last one just sort of slipped in... he's the quintessential English centre forward, deserving of the praise Newcastle fans lavish him with. Can't say I'll miss the sod.

its a very dif thing when u have to score in italian defences,
that makes DP goals much more valuable plus the facts:
-all the newcastle is playing just to help shearer net it,
DP isnt a finisher he has to create too.
-DP could do what he does in italy, but shearer wouldnt be the same in italy
-DP is younger so he still has time to do more
-juve is much better than newcastle, the competition and standards are much higher to keep up

Comparing Shearer to Del Piero does seem a bit strange, I would have expected a Del Piero vs. Raul tread. Although I don't like the typical English bulldozer striker that he is (Materazzi is probably quicker then him) I must admit that he is one of the greatest players England have produced over the decade.

FOR Newcastle he has scored 191 goals in all competitions
    For Blackburn he scored 130
For Southampton he scored 43 and for England he scored 30
