He is technically very strong in my opinion. But I suspect he is not well liked by his last 2 coaches here for various reasons and clearly, he does not seem to want to be here. Add to that that he is probably getting paid more than Thuram who is a starter and he is not first choice. The fact that people are willing to pay up for him, therefore makes it an easy decision in the end.

There seems to be a good amount of Juve fans that want to keep him. I don’t get that. Why? He showed nothing and has been unprofessional on top of it. If another club actually wants to buy him we should be thanking them.
Football fans love a bit of recency bias. He shows some nice touches in a friendly, maybe we ignore the previous season and give him another chance.

We don't know what has gone on behind the scenes with him but his main issue has been his lack of availability, doesn't matter how good you are if you can't play and integrate into a new team and league.

There might be a scenario in an alternate reality where he came in and looked like a 50m player, I agree that he has the talent (based on watching him at Villa), but sometimes things just go this way. I think we'd be foolish to gamble sticking with him in the hope he turns it around, rather than cashing in while we have the chance. He might do great at his next move but personally those things don't bother me, you can only deal with a player at your club and their circumstances, not things that happen elsewhere.

I also feel like we already have one reclamation project on our hands with Koopmeiners, who the club seem to have faith with, and can't afford to do it with two midfielders.

Or just stop buying the shitty ones
easier said than done though. luiz looked legit at villa, not a one season wonder either. he flopped here but i can't blame jj this time. basically everyone thought he was a good player, and i still think he is. and it's hard to put your finger on why it didn't work. my bet is on the plastic chick :boh:

Likely the same reason as Weah, Costa and other recent sales; there is no belief that their replacement (if one is brought in at all) will be any better.
I’m not necessarily saying the rationale is correct.

With only 1 team that wants him on a permanent deal there's not much leverage, right? And they know we need him to go too. He's more than damaged goods in Turin...
Let's hope we don't but I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Nottingham Forest know his qualities, they rate him highly, doesn't matter if it's just one team, if they want him badly as they do, then pay the asking price and not a penny less.
