Needs to step it up soon before getting benched becomes the norm for him, seems like he is not being given or shown any real trust and atm is lacking in confidence due to it.

I don't think he lacks confidence at all. He is a player who wants to do his own thing and doesn't really care as long as he makes the dough. Villa fans mentioned this repeatedly, where they said he can only work with a hard working DM next to him. Now I understand. The dude is lazy as fuck, just wants a free role to roam around without having to do anything difficult, and maybe put in a pass here and there.

And this all before we add in the fact he has a toxic social media influencer as a girlfriend, whom I actually sort of like more than him.

Wtf did we get him and his love interest for 50M if Motta prefers Fagioli and Mckennie?

At this point it seems he’s only in front of Arthur in the midfield pecking order.

Just because he's not in the proper rotation now doesn't mean he's already written off and is a flop, some players need longer to understand what the coach needs tactically, and to get into good shape. It's not a surprise to see the guys used to Serie A playing from the first minute and others taking more time to settle in.

Thuram played from the first minute and was signed after David Luiz.

But some Italian will say it's cuz his dad played in Italy or some other nonsense.

Bro you need to stop calling him David Luiz lol.

Thuram did yes, but it was at home to Como. McKennie wasn't ready then as he was 250 pounds, now he's down to 200.

This isn't some giant leap I've made here, these guys will play when they deserve to. Or is he just another backward 'Italian' coach already?

To be fair, with the number of signings we made the probability is there has to be at least one flop. Wouldn't surprise me if it's Douglas
There's always more possibility of that with a higher transfer fee like his, but the guy hasn't even played yet to judge. He had one pretty garbage game and Motta isn't stupid, there's obvious work to do for him to get up to speed.
