If he manages to stay fit and avoid any serious injuries then there’s no way this guy won’t be a key player for us, technically seems at least one level above everyone else in our midfield.

Yup. Glad we have a competent set-piece taker as well he did them well for Villa. Didn’t have one of those since Pjanić

I just hope the other players step up near Dougie level, not Dougie who will step down to other players level

If someone like Dougie can wow us, man we will lose the word if we have De Bruyne calibre

Douglas Luiz meets the media for the first time ⚪️⚫️

️ Douglas Luiz: “My first impressions are very positive, this is a great club and a lot of top players have played here. I’m sure we’ll have a good season. We’re getting used to Thiago Motta’s way of working and I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “I was impressed by how big this club is, by the passion of the fans, by the stadium, I’m so proud to wear this shirt. It will be an important season for us and we will give our all to fight together and get good results.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “Danilo and Bremer helped me a lot during the talks with the club. Every morning I woke up to them saying ‘Forza Juve’ and they told me all about the club. Having teammates with my national team who told me I could come here and make a difference definitely helped me to decide to join.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “It feels as though Thiago Motta and I have known each other for a long time. I talk to him about tactics, different aspects of the game, and we already have a very good relationship. I don’t have a preference when it comes to my position, I like being close to the opponents’ goal but if I’m needed deeper then that’s not a problem.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “Playing for Juventus is not easy, I feel the weight of responsibility. The club also paid a lot for me, and that’s another reason to work hard every day. I want to be an example for the younger players while also knowing that I’m 26 and I can still get better.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “I’m coming from the Premier League, which many say is the most difficult in the world. I want to do even more here in Serie A. I know my ability, I’m ready for this.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “Titles come as a result of the work done during the year. We’re a good group and, as I said, we’re a young group. We have a lot of talent and desire to improve. We also have players who bring experience, like Danilo, and if we all do our best then we can achieve success come the end of the year.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “I’ve been working on my versatility since I was young, I’ve always had the desire to understand the game, it’s not something that’s started just now but it’s come from the years I spent gaining experience with teams all around the world.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “I’m 26, I consider myself to be young too. I always chose to play as Juventus on video games, and the greatness of this club goes without saying. I always liked players like Nedved and Davids and I loved watching them on TV as a child, that’s why I’m so happy to be here.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “Any player in the world would love the chance to play for such a big club. As soon as I heard about Juventus’ interest, I had no doubts. It will be great to tell my family that I played for Juventus.”
️ Douglas Luiz: “I didn’t choose the no.26 shirt because of Davids, as iconic a player as he was. The number comes as the result of a mix of things - it was available, I wore six at Aston Villa and that’s Danilo’s number here, and I have respect for the older players. Twenty-six is a number that represents my past, it’s the age I am now, so a combination of things made it the right choice for me.”
And that's where today's press conference ends.

Douglas Luiz: "Brazilian role models? Talking about Serie A, I would say Adriano 'The Emperor.' As for Juventus, I would say Danilo and Felipe Melo."

and i bet he calls the club the cristiano way ("giuve"). he'll get used to the club

btw i'm watching a podcast made by two local journalists, and one guy who is commenting on the pl matches on a weekly basis said that luiz was heavily wanted by guardiola, failed to sign him because of some visa issues, and he also loves luiz's contribution at villa a lot, he rates the player as an elite 6, who also can play 8 well enough
