Should Illing and Enzo not be worth more than 22 combined. Seems a bit low to me.
I mean if they were inter players they'd sell them at 40 mill each without even making a first team appearance.

The thing with selling those kids in EPL is inflating their prices to show the league that they sold players and got x amount of money...basicly plusvalenza.
The same thing only we were punsihed for and merda, nipples, atalanta and others weren't.

So undervaluing Illing, Enzo on our side and Douglas on their side is a smart move for us...and Villa still gets the their plusvalenza.
And we get our 10% cut if they sell them on its beneficial for all parties involved.

But I read numbers like 15-20 mill for Enzo after the season he had, so a bit disappointed.
I didn't watch him in Frosinone more than 3-4 times last season, but he was really bad in each of those. His season ratings are piss poor, his team was relegated, he had an ACL injury in the recent past, his stats suck. He has a grand total of 8 minutes played in European competitions, and 0 minutes for Argentina (youth teams included).
Why on Earth would anyone pay 15-20m euro for this player?

Well I’m not gonna pretend I watched him a lot, but he got a lot of praise in the media, and the so called gurus have mentioned the 15-20mil value several times.
And since we are selling to a PL club, who always overpay, I expected minimum 10mil.
Shit players from the danish league are sold for more than this guy went for..

His passing and dribbling is disgusting. Anyone who watched him can see that. The stats are irrelevant when his strikers are muppets

Tbh what I saw of Barrenechea he wouldn't have been anything more than a back up player for us, he had his limitations, I don't really think he would have improved us, and I'd say Mckennie is still the better player over all. As for his value he has had very limited exposure outside of Italy and he wasn't even Frosinone's best player, I think we got a fair value for him and over all we got a big upgrade to our midfield.

Agree15 mill for Illing is fair. But I read numbers like 15-20 mill for Enzo after the season he had, so a bit disappointed. I like the player we got, but I don’t consider this deal a “masterpiece”. If Wes had been part of it, then it would have been.
0 goals and 1 assists is worth 15-20m these days?

Only time will tell whether it was a masterpiece based on his impact with us. I don't really care about the valuations of the other two players.

But €50M for him sounds far better than €70M. That means lesser annual cost and probably selling him should be easier when he gets older/no longer good enough etc

it is a very dumb move, even for giuntoli to release an entire group of young players and scrapping the youth project in one transfer season.
iling gone means we will have to endure another season with the pseudo footballer kostic which is criminal.
Swapping Iling and Barrenechea is "scrapping the youth project in one transfer season"? Is this not, actually, an effective use of the youth system in swapping a couple spares we picked up for cheap for half the value of a top midfielder?

Look I am fine with selling Barrenechea. But considering it was AV who had their back against the wall, and needed to sell before the 30th, I just think we had the chance to milk them dry, and we missed out on that opportunity.
22 mill for Illing and Enzo is properly fair, but we could have sold them to other clubs for that amount. Had it been Wes and Illing, both with expiring contracts, then I would have called it a masterpiece.

Tbh I don't think we had any other clubs making offers for iling and barrenechea just alot of interest. But we had to move quickly too as we have other targets to chase. I don't think we would have got that much more especially in terms of a monetary offer for those 2

Overall I think it's a fair deal and we got a big upgrade to our midfield for it

Well you can’t value a player only on goals and assists, especially a DM. The ‘transfer gurus” thought so, I personally don’t. But I did expect us to be able to get at least 10mill from a club with its back against the wall.

Like which teams? Fodder Serie A teams who'd only take them on loan?

Toli would've had to spend the entire window if he was looking at getting 'more money' for selling both players.

Villa needed to sell but JJ needed a top CM too and this was too good a market opportunity to pass on. This deal meets both team's needs.

exactly

i have no idea how good this guy is, so i can't tell whether he's the new vidal or the new lemina, but i'm sure that both iling and barrenechea are expendable

and of course other successful youth systems work the same way: some players stay, some become plusvalenza, some others go down the drain. comenencia, hasa, nonge, sekulov, daffara, anghelé (etc) will be the next ones to be judged. i hope that one or two will stick around, but won't cut my wrists open if they get sold
