I don't think that's what happened. I think he wanted to give Sassuolo one more year as he's been with them through their rise and now their achievement of Europa League. He wanted to see that out. I believe he's said as much during interviews.

I believe it was less of him not wanting Juventus and more wanting to finish what he started and what he's been a part of for 4 long years. I mean, he's been at Sassuolo from Serie B to Serie A to European football. I can see it from that perspective totally.
