Grandparents from Reggio di Calabria, mother grew up near Siena.
My dad's Sicilian parents migrated to Brazil in the 40's i think, but both passed away when i was too young. So i was raised the Portuguese way since that's where my other side of the family is from.
Fake Japanese, fake brazillian, fake english, fake portugese. Might as well call yourself @Bianconero81

Sorry OT: I'm planning a trip to Northern Italy at the end of April. Hopefully it's not too cold at that time. Don't know how safe over there with pickpocketers at train stations. Some attractions: Juve stadium, Venice, Vatican, Pisa, Tuscany.
I go with family members so it's not like I can go any where I want.
Any ideas of staying at budget/safe hotels are welcomed as I can't drag my suitcases around cathedrals, renaissance places. Thx.

It's still just as bad. This old man at my old job was Calabrese, he was coming and going every 6 months. No jobs, economy's $#@!. He said pretty much all South is like this.
It's not as bad as they make it out to be. The problem is that people are being lazy and the new generation consider themselves " too good " to do certain jobs. There's a lot of labor jobs that no one wants to do so they're hiring Romanians to do the work. Same thing goes with care take jobs and such. Plus the people are standing around collecting pensions and are happy with that. /rant

Can't be as bad as then though, don't see nearly as many Italian immigrants here. My great Grandfather lived in Naples and used to work on a boat. At 19 he jumped off it while in Canada and swam to shore, then from there went to Brooklyn. If you have to be an illegal immigrant in two countries, clearly shit is bad there :p
