Btw, I love how AC skipped my concrete example. You're all theory, generalizing but when you're faced with a concrete example of a truly good person dying for no apparent reason, you skip it.

I don't agree with that. This is AC I'm talking to, so far every christian I've had a debate with seems to be following a completely different religion from the next guy.

A woman who together with her husband helped us when we were refugees. My parents and that couple grew really close friends, without them we would've had a much tougher time slipping into a new country, language and culture. Two days ago she dropped dead on her balcony. I'm sure she and her widowed husband grew spiritually from that.

A person can grow spiritually from a death. My uncle dropped dead suddenly at 58 2 years ago and many in my family grew in a positive light. It all depends on a person and what they want to see. Some choose to look at only the pain and darkness not seeing beyond the storm

There are a lot of Christian denominations and differences in Christian faith. Same as Judaism and even islam

What does that even mean? Her husband is pushing 70, their son's wife recently had a cancer operation, somethings not right with their other son. They were in enough pain before. What does her husband have to look forward to for the remaining few years of his life? Spiritual growth? I think he'd happily trade that in if he could just wake up to his wife every morning.

Not just Catholics, but if you speak to a good number of people about their religious beliefs, you'll come to realize that their beliefs always vary slightly. It's what I've found about Christians, Muslims and Hindus that I've spoken to here.

Once again it goes to how people take it. I suffered greatly from my uncles death. He was my closest and favorite uncle but meditating on it I have come to peace. I know my uncle is in peace

You guys are right, religious people pick and choose what parts of their religion they believe in.

I know a christian, who doesnt believe in hell, he believes that 'bad people' get left here on earth as ghosts forever & ever...

And some christians say the mass flooding (noahs ark) didn't happen, and that its a figure of speech (made up story), they deny it, simply because it paints their all loving, caring god, in a negative light.
