no, not really. generally a coach will find as formation that suits him and request the players that suit his system, playing style and workrate. capello requested emerson and vieira to stifle the midfield, lippi requested zambrotta and nedved to run his wings, deshamps quit as he didnt get the players HE wanted

a great coach should not eb afraid to alter his formation to accommodate a top player, but a coach should not have a player forced upon him when he sees it causing an imbalance in the team.

now, i would love a diego type player in the team and the system should be allowed to accommodate him but it is obvious that ranieri does not have confidence enough in diego's ability that he can carry the role off

i can only imagine that Ranieri is not convinced he is good enough, i feel taht is he identified a player that could play that role and he was confident in him he would change the system, to me, it is simply the case that Ranieri does not rate Diego

Ribery is world class though, I would much rather get him than Diego. We need a Nedved replacement, we don't need anymore central midfielders.

Werder set Diego price

Werder Bremen have told Juventus that midfield star Diego is worth nearly £20m, according to Press reports in Germany.

The Old Lady have been tracking Brazilian international Diego for months and the player has flirted with the Turin giants on several occasions.

Diego impressed in the shop window with a late equaliser against Milan on Wednesday evening in the UEFA Cup last 32.

According to German newspaper Bild, Juve have made preliminary contact with Bremen but have been warned that Diego won't come cheap.

The Bundesliga outfit have reportedly slapped an £18m price tag on the 23-year-old, which the Bianconeri are unlikely to be able to meet.

The former Porto man is under contract at the Weserstadion until 2011 but his desire to play in Italy could force Bremen to reduce their demands.
