Yeah. It's not really a good way to base your hate on a player by his price tag.
diego was in top 3 for us last year imo (after chiello and dp)...

he was expensive but he delivered and in this team i'm sure that he would've had success..not like melo who plays like a maniac even when he's around 10 brazilians..

I am not sure I follow you here.

For him to be a success we have to base our team around him, and I'm not particularly sure he's worth that. One would think we'll get more value for our 25M than that don't you think?

On Melo, as he's proving so far this season and during some periods last season as well, if he is coached well, he can be a great asset for any team. We couldn't have overpaid for him as he had a release clause in his contract, on the contrary of Diego.

How some can hate a player who is currently playing for Juve is beyond me :shifty:
:agree:

That's not true though. A release clause (which we met in this case) has nothing to do with a player's "true value".

We did overpay for Melo.

If we want a particular player with a release clause in his contract, then we just have to meet that price. There's nothing more we could do to get the player if he really interest us. Was he cheap? Hell no, but there was nothing we could have done if we really wanted that player.

Diego didn't have a release clause, so we could have negotiated a better price for him.

The fact that a player has a release clause, doesn't mean that you can't negotiate a better price.

It's not as if Fiorentina weren't "allowed" to let him go for less. That is their call.
The only thing that release clause meant, was that Fiorentina couldn't keep hold of him if someone was foolish enough to meet the mentioned price.

Fact remains that we overpaid.

I didn't know that.

Well, I'm a bit of a Melo fanboy so excuse me for being biased. :D
