I've said it a million times, a player like Diego is intelligent enough to adapt to new roles be it playing as a striker or even a winger if needs be
We weren't on the same page earlier today but it seem that we have the same thoughts. I wouldn't play Diego as winger however, I think it would be a waste. But Diego playing as SS is  like I said before.

Maybe that's Marotta's plan to get Dzeko. Agree to a player+cash swap, then he tells Diego to pull the plug on his deal and ends up paying just the cash for Dzeko to Wolfsburg :shifty:

What players do you require for the 4-3-1-2?

Camo played in such a system in the past, so has Poulsen, so has Diego, and we had a glut of CM's like Tiago and Marchisio. Our wingers such as Marchionni and DC were mediocre. Giovinco wasn't given a chance. Nedved has always been better in the middle like he was with Lippi, and I think he was held back in his role under Capello. With Ranieri, Pavel was just getting too old.

To be honest, we didn't really have the players for either system. We had too many garbage players and with an inexperienced manager, trouble was bound to occur.

If you recall, there were several complaints against how we couldn't create shit under Ranieri. People tend to forget that. And without Del Piero, I think it's fair to say we would have created far less than we did. So IMO, this 4-4-2 stuff is an illusion.
Was out yesterday but thought I should have the decency to reply to you, so here goes.

I more or less agree with the bolded part. Which is actually another reason not to start changing everything around.

And you are right, there were complaints about our so called inability to create under Ranieri. Complaints that I personally never agreed with anyway. Thing is, we created even less last season, and at the same time we became extremely easy to break down.

And to get back on topic: I would not mind Diego staying (even though I have questions about how he'll fit in our team).
But I would not mind selling him either. Just not at the price that is being mentioned today. That would be ridiculous.

this price is indeed ridiculous, as the price we paid for bonucci and sold poulsen and gio's half.
We are losing millions upon million withese transfers, but 16mil is just wsy too litle, no matter what marotta has in mind.
You can find a player with diego's and age at this price anywhere in the world.
And since this year we are bound to do better, his price will certainly right, there is no reason to throw away 10mil of our capital just to have 16mil on cash, unless thats what we need to dign dzeko...

I've read a rumour that Wolfsburg would be closing in on Makoun from Lyon.
Let's hope this is true, it might mean they won't have to get Diego anymore.

True, but I wonder if Wolfsburg have that much to spent, 8-10 mil on Makoun, +/- 20 mil on Diego and if I recall it good, they already bought a few players (Kjaer comes to mind).
