You have to build a team around a player like Diego. Our acquisitions and the coaches we hire don't play that brand of football. Getting Diego never made sense in that way. It doesn't help that Diego didn't click in his first season here.

he proved that he does,dusan!
For our eyes.

Even one month ago, or two...Marotta did say that he doesn't fit in his plans and that they would consider offers for him. He said that Del Neri wants to play 4-4-2 and seeing Diego on the wing is no ok.

Later they did say that he'd work in 4-4-1-1 like a shadow player behind Amauri/Trez

But meh, who knows...like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves now.

i'm tired reading FI goal or TMW where they never stop claiming that diego is a trequartista and not a support striker who doesnt fit in DN plans and blah blah blah...that's ridiculus

seriously, selling diego right now, would be the worst possible choice.and there's no need to explain why.

btw,dusan,good game yesterday :p

A combination of factors most likely. But who of us really knows?

You can have success with every possible formation, just like you can fail with every possible formation.

But I do think that we never had the right players to play 4-3-1-2.
And even if you do have the right players, you'd need to make sure that the guy who plays as the trequartista is really special. And frankly, Diego is good, but he's nowhere near great.

Personally, I have always believed that when you just had a successful season (which we had, 2 in a row even), you shouldn't make drastic changes. You should focus on making small upgrades where necessary. We did the complete opposite & it backfired.
What players do you require for the 4-3-1-2?

Camo played in such a system in the past, so has Poulsen, so has Diego, and we had a glut of CM's like Tiago and Marchisio. Our wingers such as Marchionni and DC were mediocre. Giovinco wasn't given a chance. Nedved has always been better in the middle like he was with Lippi, and I think he was held back in his role under Capello. With Ranieri, Pavel was just getting too old.

To be honest, we didn't really have the players for either system. We had too many garbage players and with an inexperienced manager, trouble was bound to occur.

If you recall, there were several complaints against how we couldn't create shit under Ranieri. People tend to forget that. And without Del Piero, I think it's fair to say we would have created far less than we did. So IMO, this 4-4-2 stuff is an illusion.

With the players Juventus had last season the only way to win a match was to stuck everyone in goal to prevent conceding and hope to score from a set piece/header. Regardless of the system.

He doesn't fit into Del Neri's system is my guess.
That would be really, really stupid. Why doesn't old man Del Neri(Btw, writing his name remind way too much about Ranieri) adjust to the players he has? I wonder what he would have done if they gave him the job at Barcelona? Start selling players left and right so he can play his 4-4-2?

We missed way too many chances. Could've been 5-1 :p
 dude zigic could have easily scored 3or more.i couldnt stop laughing, watching how lucky we were, nothing to worry though, your squad is brilliant and 10x times better than ours.and as a general fan of football,i love watching you.
we will regret Diegos transfer
:agree: ,but he wont leave!

----------------------Valdes

Alves--------Pique-----------Puyol--------Maxwell

Hleb---------Xavi-------------Keita----- New lw (iniesta is too weak psychically and can't defend nor tracks back)

-------------Messi------------Zlatan

Out: Iniesta (too weak and short), Villa (he only likes one dimensional players), Busquets (he can pass so it's a no go)

Meh, i'm bored, that barca team would probably still win trophies but you get the idea.

Del Neri seems to be getting a lot of criticism for saying absolutely nothing about wanting Diego to leave. He even said that Diego was part of his best partnership in attack.

I don't want us to sell Diego, but a bidding war such as the one reported is excellent.

If we get 20 and spend it on players who will actually improve this team (two or three of Krasic, Dzeko, Cassano, Elia etc) , then I'm all for it.
