Diego: I'll prove my worth Saturday 17 July, 2010
Juventus ace Diego has reiterated his desire to stay at the club and prove himself following a disappointing debut season.
The 25-year-old has been at the centre of plenty of Press speculation this summer, with Juve reportedly offering his services to Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg.
However, the big-money signing from Werder Bremen is keen to stay and show Juventus supporters why he arrived with such a big reputation.
“I want to stay at Juve and this is clear,” the Brazilian told Sky Sport 24.
“If I am here it means the team feels the same. Before going on holiday I spoke to Giuseppe Marotta and the new Coach - it is all sorted, I am not moving.
“These rumours kind of bother me because I don't like when people lie.
“One year ago I picked Juve and I won't give in after only 12 months. This team is one of the best in the world, I am happy to be here and I hope we will improve.”
In the meantime, Gigi Del Neri has spoken about how he views Diego's role in this team.
“]Diego is a shadow striker and this position is not new to him,” said Del Neri.
“Last year when my Sampdoria played in Turin he played in that position just behind Amauri and with Sebastian Giovinco and Mauro Camoranesi on the wings.
