Diego was always going to be declared the saviour of the team or a flop.

He has, all things considered, had a pretty decent first season in Serie A so far.


And Chiellini has to be player of the year. I don't think anyone else is even close to him for that.

Normally I would have agreed, but this season I've seen some of Chiellini's worst decisions and play in years on occasion.

Diego is having a decent season but I don't see him as the player of the season. He hasn't consistently impressed and had the desired effect on the team. I still don't see him as a complete team player. He is getting there but he needs to improve.

Chiellini had a worst season last year imo. He had many individual mistakes that lead us to lose many points and this year its not as much. We also have to remember that he was playing in a more reserved system last year but still making direct mistakes.

Chiellini's "individual mistakes" are overstated. Okay, his passing is bad and his clearances normally go for throw-ins, sometimes corners but they are not errors as such.

As for Diego, he been our best attacking player, but he isn't as decisive as regularly as he should be and Chiellini in consistently the only thing holding our defence together. It's no exaggeration to say he's a one man defence. Juve fans were shitting meteors on news of his injury, and rightly so. Without him, we are in boiling shit.

This is definitely not based on today's match, but I still think Diego is better suited as a second striker than a player maker. He needs to be next to the box to be effective.
