3 man defense with no sissoko in mid and Melberg at right back. A recipe for disaster.

First off, an amazing signing, I believe we have captured one of the best talents in world football at a competitive price. Im excited and pleased to have him here and anyone who isn't cannot truly want the best talent in this team.

The big question is: Is diego our replacement for nedved?? Creatively he is a viable option, but he won't provide the pace, drive, leadership or physicality. I agree we will suffer out wide as Camo hasn't got the pace he used to, Marchionni is hot and cold, and Gio is a striker playing on the wing. Our next few signings are so important, particularly in defence, but I think another winger would really give us some depth. Our formation may be too rigid, especially with injuries, otherwise.
The question of whether he is a good signing is irrelevant as you can only assume at this point he is, the question should be: Is he as good a signing if he is the replacement in mind for Pavel?

What Diego lacks in leadership or physical ability he'll make up for it in sheer skill.

I know it's difficult for some to accept that we bought a player that uses skill instead of power and physical ability to get the job done, but people will have to get over it. We can't just field a team of 11 DM's out there.

Somebody else will provide the physical ability and leadership if Diego can't.

Nobody expects Diego to have physical presence or leadership qualities... He's brought in because we need a midfielder who can score goals and provide assists... and he's got the skill... so we just need to wait and see if he will deliver...

Well, if we play with one striker up top then someone is going to be pretty pissed off between DP, IQ, Amauri and Trez. I have no idea how you rotate 4 strikers in a 1 striker formation. Its either gonna be a 4312 or 442 next year, that is my guess.
How abt 3-5-2 ??

Don't tell me we've signed Joe Thornton

We played with Sissoko-Marchisio in the center a lot of times this season and we did brilliant, especially defensive wise.
but you forget, that this was the time we played with a high defensive line, that made space rare for the opponent and sissoko pressured the opponent before they could make the offside-trap-breaking pass. right now we do play with a lower defensive line, thus giving more space to the opponent in those areas, which is not so easy to shut down by two roaming midfielders like momo and claudio

How did Giovinco earned his sticky then? Im not against it since im a fan of Gio, but he couldnt have earned it more then Marchisio. So by what criteria does one earn a sticky here?
