Diego can win Ballon d’Or

The father of Juventus sensation Diego believes that the Brazilian boy wonder can win the Golden Ball.
The South American has made a great start to the campaign following his £21.5m switch from Bayern Munich.
The attacking midfielder has already won comparisons with great Juventus No 10s from the past such as Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane, two players who lifted the Ballon d’Or while in Turin.
“The Golden Ball can become reality,” Djair noted. “However, he and the rest of the team must have a good season first.
“It’s still very early, but I’m supporting Juventus and hope they can get as far as possible in the Serie A race and the Champions League.
“It’s obvious that if the club do get to the Final of the European Cup then my son will be at an advantage.”
Diego is currently out with a slight thigh strain that he picked up against Lazio last weekend, but he’s hoping to be back very soon.
“If it was up to him then he would be playing already,” added his dad. “We all hope he’ll return soon, possibly for the next game [against Livorno on Saturday].
“However, these decisions will be left to the medical staff and the Coach.”
Diego Senior also revealed how happy his son is with his choice of club after leaving the Bundesliga behind.
“He’s very satisfied with his first few months as a Bianconero. He was instantly impressed with the affection of the fans.
“The atmosphere in Italy is similar to the one back home in Brazil. Diego has a great hunger to excite the fans.”
Juventus missed Diego in the midweek 1-1 draw with Bordeaux in the Champions League, but the player himself isn’t panicking.
“It’s shame that we didn’t win, but we know it is tough in the Champions League,” said the international.
“Picking up a point is not ideal, even in a balanced group, but there is time to make up and go through.”
