It's not difficult to see the board wanted to preserve Del Piero's starting spot. Giovinco and Diego out = cozy 58 games for Del Piero all season. Quag is not a direct replacement so yeah, nice going retards at the BOD.

And unsurprisingly, it was the BOD harassing Diego to leave, I would have too in the same circumstances. It's better to go than stay at a place where you are not wanted.
