I like it when less powerful clubs are able to keep star players for a while, because it makes leagues more interesting.

Used to be easier to do pre-Bosman.

Waste of talent. He needs to be playing at a big club. As long as it isn't one of the English clubs, i'm fine with him playing anywhere.
I agree, but only because he has no more motivation to play there. They really should let him leave.

I'm more curious to see whether these star players are really stars or are just big fish in small pond type of players.

Apart from what Fred said, it might also end up to be a wasted season for him. He desperately wants to leave and they're not letting him go.

But if, despite this, he still gives his best, then it will be another plus for his career because he'll show himself as a great professional.

What's interesting about this mercato is that people seem extremely comfortable with our front line. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why. Trez and Iaquinta are past it. Del piero cannot start for us anymore. Amauri is too inconsistent. Along with a new LB, another attacker is very much needed.

I wonder what Zlatan from this small country up north should cost a team? 15 million? Oh no, wait, thats just his yearly salary.

Who are the smart arses that started the bullshit about player's values depending on their nationality? Do you have names, V?
Enjoy. This is the crown jewel, if it weren't so damn funny, it'd be borderline racist.
What I don't get is Wolfsburg are expecting 33 million for a Bosnian striker who's had a couple of 'promising' seasons at a still relatively modest club. And they expect to sign the Brazillian Diego for 15 million who was the one of top performers in the Bundesliga a couple of years ago.

Think they need to show a little more common sense.
I'm not properly convinced Dzeko is 'all that' and anything more than 20 million for him would be a big risk imo. Werder are only wanting 16 million for Ozil who was of the star performers at the world cup and is only 21. Fair enough he is in the last year of his contract but Wolfsburg are being totally unrealistic in how they value their own players and other players

Indirectly he brings up a good point though. It is true that young Brazilian players are probably more expensive than young Venezuelan players for example. But if you're netting 30 goals a season in the Bundesliga, nationality has got nothing to do with it. It is something clubs take into account when looking at raw talent (for example a lot of Argentinian players adjust very easily in Europe, so you pay a bit more for them), but not a factor when the player in question is already a star.

I don't think people are "comfortable" with our forwards. It's just that we are less "comfortable" with other positions, and we understand that without quality wingers in this straight 4-4-2 system the strikers will suffer no matter who they are.

Since we have wasted time on mediocre players, looks like we will have to make do with mediocre forwards.

I already covered that. :p
