I'm more and more concerned Diego can't cut in Serie A. Not that he doesn't have the skills, but he obviously needs more space to function which our opposition doesn't allow. He always has 2 players on him and it's obviously getting frustrating for him, he was lucky not to be sent off yesterday.
I think there are other isues involved since he ripped apart udineses defense at uefa cup last season, scoring a goal himself.

He sure does. There's a huge difference between him and Kaka, not just by reputation but playing style as well. Kaka splits defenses with intelligent passing, Diego likes to take on players head on. He needs to adapt and change something because after his initial explosion he has been read and completely neutralized now.

The refs don't need to do anything, did Kaka and Zidane need extra protection? Diego needs to step up.
Right about that.I think he's used to carrying a team & being the main focal point of attack that he doesn't know any better. Also i think he's trying very hard to make an impression to win a spot in the brazilian team for the WC.

He's a champ & we should expect to see him adapt sooner or later.

It was different then, because he was in another leauge. Now that he's in Serie A, it's only natural opposition pays more attention to him and puts two players on him from the start. He needs to deal with that.

Sergio: Totti better than Brazilians
Monday 23 November, 2009
Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Sergio believes captain Francesco Totti is a better player than Diego and Robinho.

Totti returned from knee surgery on Sunday and scored a hat-trick against Bari, taking his total for the season to 19 goals in 13 games in all competitions.

Speaking to Centro Suono Sport, Sergio said: “Totti has made the difference ever since his first game as a professional.

“I have played with Diego, Robinho and Elano, and they were not like Totti, who can change the game all by himself.”

The 31-year-old went on to discuss his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

“I never played for three years. I started only recently. I hope to sign an extension, but there is still time.

“I know that I can still improve, but I think that I have shown my qualities and ability to play regularly. I also hope to play our next game against Atalanta.

“I have thought about leaving. At certain times in the past, I asked myself what would happen, but my family feel good here. I have a good relationship with my team-mates.

“I am very happy for myself at the moment. I have to continue working a lot,” he concluded.

Give him time to settle in. Writing him off already isn't particularly smart because it does take him time to settle in at new clubs.

Once Del Piero is back in the team he will pull more defenders to him, opening up some space for Diego to fill.

Diego's not a soft guy who let's shit get to him. You can see it, he doesn't get frustrated or upset he gets more determined and gets stuck in. Having that mentality is the most important thing to adapt. That's what a talented player like Tiago lacks.

Stop bashing this guy. He can't do it all by himself and hasn't exactly had his best teammates to play alongside week in and week out. Couple that with the 2 new systems we have been playing and, not to mention that he's always got two defenders on him.

This guy is going to shine in the second half of the season.

Agreed with Elvin, Nedved was a real slow coach but once he got going he was an unstoppable locomotive, I hope the same applies to Diego.

Meh. The only reason of this is because of the gaga fap fest after that Roma game, shit blew out of proportions after that.
:agree:

Diego might not have been so impressive creativity wise, but he's doing more work for us than most give him credit for, even now imo. He'll be fine, and so will we.
