The press is creating virtual reality. First they were writing that Juventus is interested in Diego, Ranieri wants to change his tactics becase of him and Secco will start negotiations with Werder in March, then an information about Diego was shown saying he would like to sign for Juve, on the next day Diego denied that and now they want to tell us that Ranieri didn't want to sign him because of tactics.

Few days full of news, thusands of papers sold and the truth is that it's all only an effect of a journalist's creative imagination. We were probably never interested in Diego because of his price-tag and becaue of tactics also, he don't suit 4-4-2 played in Italy, where at least two players who can stop opponent's attack are nedded in the center of the midfield.

Juve Pull Out Of Diego Race – Report
Juventus have pulled out of the race to sign Werder Bremen star Diego on the orders of Coach Claudio Ranieri, according to Tuttosport.

The playmaker was believed to be the Bianconeri’s primary transfer target for the summer as they aimed to bring in some much needed flair and creativity into their pragmatic midfield.

However question marks over whether the move could go ahead started to appear last weekend when first Diego, and then his club, stated that they had no interest in discussing a transfer.

Tuttosport now says that Claudio Ranieri does not want to sign the player because he feels that his individualism in the centre of midfield will not fit in with his preferred 4-4-2 formation.

The Brazilian’s strongest position is in the hole behind the front two, but The Tinkerman wants players who are more disciplined and can both attack and defend.

It remains to be seen who Ranieri has in mind to fill this role but it is believed that he is thinking on the lines of a box-to-box player in the mould of Frank Lampard.

Indeed the Chelsea man may even be an option as he was linked heavily with a move to Turin before Christmas.

Ranieri was responsible for launching the England international’s career when he signed him for Chelsea from West Ham.

Diego's work ethic would suit Juve better than VDV, and Diego can actually play midfield not just a AMC.

I doubt Ranieri really thinks Diego wont fit the system, however, given Bremen's reluctance, it all comes down to resources I guess....do we have enough Mark?

Sure we do, 115m€ from Mediaset... But i think our budget will be around 30m€ to 40m€ max for mercato + what SUCko will sell (Almiron, Tiago, Zalayeta, Blasi, Olivera....)
If we dish out 27m€ i think that we can get him...Maybe that is the now tactic, like Moggi did...don't give a crap for "Diego" and than we swoop in...
That would be nice...the guy can dream, right...

Maybe Del Piero will get this board some fire under their butt so they dont mess around any more and bring in a quality player. I dont think we need any other "stars" besides a creative midfielder. A solid Left back would do us just fine for this transfer season in my opinion.

30mil euros isn't so much, especially with Secco dealing....if thats all we have I doubt we'll spend all of it on Diego. We can count on the sales of Tiago and Almiron but who else?
