Well we can always pay in installments. Just the way we did with Sissoko. Barca also did that with some of the players the bought during the summer: G. Milito, Henry & Abidal if I am not mistaken.
we could buy based on that future income though
It will help but not dramatically and it certainly won´t help much in this summer transfer window. What do you think? That all the money will go into getting a number of great, expensive players? I don´t think so. It would however ensure 1 or 2 class player each season. We are on a good path of financial recovery and thus we need to qualify to CL. Then we wll slowly get back to the top provided that of course, fatal mistakes aren´t done anymore. Secco doesn´t have much more credit and time.

Özil In To Replace Diego?

Mesut Özil completed a move from Schalke to Werder Bremen yesterday. But if you believe Bild, he's been brought in to replace Diego

Mesut Özil's nightmare auf Schalke finally came to an end on transfer deadline day as he secured a move to Werder Bremen.

After Stuttgart and Hannover tried and failed to land the German youth international, the Green-and-Whites swooped in at the last minute to saving the player from spending six months punishment in the Schalke reserves.

International Business

Özil will be introduced to the media at noon today in Bremen having signed a deal at the Weserstadion until 2011.

He'll earn €1.5m a year at Werder, while Schalke have netted €4.5m from his transfer, rising to €6m should he become an international for either Germany or Turkey, the country of this parents.

Win-Win

"It was a deal that all parties could live with," Schalke sporting director Andreas Müller, no doubt glad to see the back of the player, told Bild. "It certainly wasn't a bad deal for Özil - one moment he's an outcast here because of his contract antics, the next he's suddenly competing for the title with Werder."

Heir To Diego's Thrown?

Bremen's sporting director, Klaus Allofs, meanwhile suggested that Özil was being brought to the Weserstadion for the long term. Speculation is now abound that this means the youngster, an attacking midfielder, has been drafted in as successor to Brazilian superstar Diego.

Bild claim that Werder have resigned themselves to losing the former Santos and FC Porto man to a top club in Spain or Italy - if not this summer, then next. They are hoping that Diego can teach fellow dribbler and flair player Özil a thing or two before he packs his bags.

Juve's Diego plan - There has already been contact with Werder Bremen for a £20m deal, there will be a decisive meeting in March

EDIT: We will offer him 3.5mln per year.

Juve plot Diego assault

Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus are preparing a huge bid for Werder Bremen’s Diego this summer and will begin talks in March.

The Bianconeri added Mali international during the January transfer window, but they are set to add more reinforcements in the summer to try and launch a Scudetto challenge next term.

Brazilian midfielder Diego is in high demand and is attracting interest from several of Europe’s top clubs.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Juve are ready to avoid a summer bidding war for the 22-year-old wizard by agreeing a provisional deal in March that could amount to around £20m.

The Old Lady are expected to offer Diego a big pay rise that would take his annual salary to just over £2.5m per season.

Diego is under contract at the Weserstadion until 2010 and while he could free himself using FIFA’s Article 17 in June 2009, Juve are keen to have him on board for 2008-09.

It is now widely believed that the Cadetti champions will withdraw their interest in Hamburg star Rafael Van Der Vaart in order to pursue Diego.

If Juve wasn't in such a shitty state I'd be pissed at us spending 25m+ to sign Diego when Werder has signed his replacement for less than 1/3 that. That's just not what we do, but we need established players right away :depressed

Diego to Juve this summer?

:flag:
Özil is definitely not Diego's replacement. I mean, he has a lot of talent, he's just 19 and maybe he'll become a great player in the future but calling him Diego's replacement would go much too far, comaparable to calling Aaron Hunt Diego's successor.

Carlos Alberto failed to integrate into Werder's team, he was injured, had sleeping difficulties and started fights with teammates in training. Now he's loaned to Sao Paulo and I doubt he'll ever come back.
