Inter Set To Hijack Juve’s Diego Deal

Tuttosport is today suggesting that Inter Milan may be set to hijack Juventus’ move to sign Werder Bremen star Diego.

The Brazilian playmaker is rated as one of the most promising midfielders in world football and recently expressed a desire to move to Serie A.

Juventus have made no secret of their admiration for the 22-year-old and Bianconeri sporting director Alessio Secco recently declared:

“He is strong in the role he plays. Juventus are observing him, however we know that we are not the only ones who are interested.”

One of those teams paying attention are Inter, who are prepared to meet Werder Bremen’s €35m price tag for the player.

Diego is said to prefer a move to Juventus but with the club only prepared to pay €20m, this could prove a stumbling block.

Other European big guns also linked with Diego’s signature are Chelsea and Real Madrid. A move to the latter may appeal to Diego as he first shot to fame in Brazil as a 17-year-old when he formed a devastating partnership at Santos with Los Merengues star Robinho. The duo led the team to the Brazilian Championship in 2002.

:wallbang: why inter......why???

Get real. We won´t get him. He is expensive and he is followed by many clubs. We will not throw that kind of money for 1 player. All these reports are thrash. Diego is said to prefer a move to Juventus. I highly doubt that. And his price will scare our directors away. We have to be realistic. Maybe we could sign this kind of player in a few years when we had a better financial situation and a higher income.

Werder Chief: I Would Let Diego Join Madrid

Werder Bremen president Jürgen Born has revealed that if Diego really does want to join Real Madrid then he would be prepared to let him go.

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move to the Bernabéu in recent months and has admitted that he would one day like to play for one of European football's major clubs.

While Born does not want Diego to go anywhere, he admitted that it would be difficult to prevent the player from going if he really wanted to.

"We do not even want to think about," the Werder supremo told Cadena SER radio station. "But if Diego really wanted to go to Real Madrid I would not oppose him going."

Despite that, Born stated that he will everything he can to persuade the 22-year-old to stay at the Weserstadion for as long as possible.

"Diego is an important player," he continued. "He would only leave if he wanted to go and we were not able to keep him.

"But we are going to do everything possible to keep him and I do not want to imagine him not playing for my team."

I wouldn't even pay 20m for him. He seems to want Madrid more anyway. Let's give the chance to the guys we have and invest in other positions.

He wants Juve more than Real, but Juve isn't so willing to take him. I can't understand why we prefer to buy every year, with amount of 10 milions players like Almiron and Tiago that don't offer what we expect from them, and we don't offer 20 milions to buy a player like DIEGO who is young and Talented and is one of arising stars Brazil. Juve must dare and make this big opening to take and i do believe that we don't regret it.

I don't believe for one minute that Diego is going for 20 million. If he was then he would have been sold already. I'd say 30 million atleast.

So who thinks Giovinco is ready for a first team spot next season??

<------------------------------------------------------- this guy does. I don't think he'll start every game but enough games to continue his development. One thing is for sure, I see him starting 2 years from now and if we get diego he'll be a waste. Let's give our own youngsters a chance before we waste money on others........

Ranieri keen to add invention to Juventus midfield
tribalfootball.com - December 03, 2007

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri wants to add more invention to his midfield during the January market.

Tuttosport says Ranieri has already held talks with Juve directors and hopes to call on quality playmaker for the second-half of the season.

Juve's top targets are Werder Bremen star Diego and Hamburg's Rafael van der Vaart, who were watched by Bianconeri scouts last weekend.
