Genoa is sent to Serie C1. I think that all professional players get free agent status in such cases, so we can sign Milito for free.

    Assalto agli svincolati
    27 07 2005

    Grazia Neri

it basically says madness in the transfer market for free players. Perugia, torino, messina and also venezia are all near becoming relegated to the lowest grade ie serie c2 and all the players are then freee on transfer but genoa have been relegated to serie c1 which meens that the players are not free!

I dont really mind if we get him. I would love for Zalayeta to stay at Juventus but that wont be realistic. He has done a good job for us and surely he wants more time on the pitch :frown:

Yeah, but because he was starting to get in form other clubs finally realised he is a good player. No player in the world would be fifth striker at the age of 26.

Bear in mind that Zalayeta played a lot more 1st team football for Juve last year then in any previous year.. We only had 4 strikers last year and Trez and Del Piero were injured for some period...and on many occassions Capello subbed DP with Zalayeta.

    I think Capello likes Zalayeta.

but in the end if he wants out....then Milito is a pretty good gamble to take. We may end up loaning him out in January.

Juventus to beat Inter Milan for Genoa star Milito
    tribalfootball.com - August 2, 2005

Juventus are set to trump Inter Milan for Genoa striker Diego Milito.

Juve director general Luciano Moggi has been in talks with Genoa for several months about a swap deal for Milito involving Fabrizio Miccoli.

That deal was called off following Genoa's demotion to Serie C1, but negotiations over Argentine Milito have continued.

While the player revealed Inter Milan had made an offer for him last week, Juve sources have told Virgilio Sport that a fee with Genoa has been agreed and also personal terms struck with Milito's agent.
