Fenerbahce's Alex suspected of match-fixing in Turkish scandal - report
Police in Turkey have handed authorities a document of evidence in which it is alleged the midfielder was involved in the fixing of games
Fenerbahce's Brazilian midfielder Alex is alleged to have played a part in the recent match-fixing scandal that has engulfed Turkish football.
Hurriyet reports that the 32-year-old captain is under investigation after police in Istanbul handed an 800-page dossier to prosecutors relating to the scandal.
The document is said to state that Alex spoke to a number of officials at Trabzonspor and Bursapor in which he is said to have fixed the game between those two clubs.
Prosecutors are now expected to question the midfielder who has played for Fenerbahce since 2004.
The Super Lig side recently avoided relegation after the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) ruled that there was not enough evidence to prosecute those caught up in the scandal which included senior figures at Trabzonspor and Besiktas.
However, the Turkish criminal justice system is still carrying out investigations and a future, possibly revised, decision is likely to arrive through the courts.
The Turkish Super Cup tie between Fenerbahce and Besiktas had previously been cancelled, while the Super Lig has been delayed by a month as a result of the investigation.
