Milan are in a worse financial situation, they are forced to sell and release players because they cant afford their salaries.
And they can sign Milan class players anymore.
They do not chalenge for titles and it doesnt appear that they will.
They have nothing more than we do to apease an aging veteran who would like to shine one more time, maybe win a couple of titles with the minimum effort and risk.
And yet, the Marotta factor could be that decisive, there is a reason why Marotta never bought and never will get a player of this class...

I am dead set against Drogba. Can one of you who is in favor of signing Drogba please explain to me what you see in that transfer?
Here is my reasoning. Drogba is a one-year signing, if that, which is a huge risk for the amount of money he's going to cost. If he doesn't deliver, is out of form, is just here for the money, doesn't immediately fit into our offense or any other of a myriad of reasons I can think of, there simply is no time for him to regain his form and goal-scoring ability, which will make the whole deal a complete waste. The only reason Drogba would be worth it is if he could give us the Champions League, or even the final, in a silver platter, which he can't do for certain because he couldn't do it for Chelsea consistently in his prime either, so how would he do it for us now that he's 35 and his latest practice is at the Chinese league? I'd rather get a younger player who can be molded to fit our style of play and can be given a reasonable time frame in which to rise to meet our expectations of him, which are pretty high by now, we've had enough of Amauri and others like him. There is no way the money a Drogba transfer requires can be justified, in my eyes. Not to mention it just postpones the problem of finding a long-term solution for a year. Drogba is a band-aid, the most expensive band-aid a club could buy. It's like those rich patients with early-stage cancer who prefer doing homeopathic treatments instead of going to a real doctor.
Lisandro is not quite the same case, incidentally, but he's pushing the envelope. He carries an enormous price tag for what he offers, and isn't getting any younger. He'll be 30 in two months, he's going to cost upwards of 15 million, at least, for a contract with a real duration of about two years (regardless of what it's actually going to be). He's not bad from what I know, he might even fit us well, but that's just too much money for too old and too unproven (for our particular needs) a player for a side like Juve that likes to boast of its long-term thinking. Not to mention we should be signing strikers who have at least a few good years left in them at least, even if they don't necessarily spend all of them at Juve. The reason is that it gives them ambition to perform instead of complacency, and some resell value too.
In conclusion: Let Drogba go to Milan. We should be signing players like Leo Baptistao, Iago Aspas, and those of their age and caliber. Or someone like Jovetic and Isco, if we are going to spend big.

Agree about Drogba but for Lisandro, Nedved was about 30 when he signed for us...
Jovetic if we spend big... we aren't spending big, you said yourself Lisandro will cost about ~15m depending on how long he stays. How much would Jovetic cost? Much more than that just for the transfer fee alone, money we don't have.

I'm not saying we are spending big, I'm just saying it shouldn't be ruled out as an option, especially in the summer. For someone like Jovetic, I see splurging as absolutely worth it.
Regarding Lisandro, I'm not convinced he's a player of Nedved's ability, the differences in position notwithstanding. I wouldn't be too sad to see him join, but there just are far better options out there, and from clubs who don't smell an opportunity for a quick and dirty profit.

The problem is we can't spend that much if we don't have it. Esp. with FFP and that bs.
Of course Lisandro is no player of Nedved's ability; not many players are, but he is still quite good and 30 is not 'too old', especially when (most) players take better care of themselves to prolong their career + improved of sports medicine.

He is a player who potentially could have a massive impact on our game, considering he is a pretty clinical finisher and could be what we need to put all those chances away on a regular basis. I can't really think of any other players available for a reasonable price that would be a better option now.
