Young talent, big price.

Here is the deal. Wages are payed over a long duration. You dont have liquid money issues, cause of the low initial cost.

A transferfee, thats different. Thats much more money then the monthly turnover, and requires eighter a big pool of liquid cash, or another loan.

For this reason, Wages are offcourse a factor in the yearly turnover, but a different issue from a one time transferfee

For all those whiners with regard to his age:
SerieA top scorer list 2013/2014

22 Immobile C. (Torino)

20 Toni L. (Verona)

19 Tevez C. (Juventus)

17 Di Natale A. (Udinese), Higuain G. (Napoli), Palacio R. (Inter)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

If a 37 year old Luca Toni can score fucking 20 goals or a 36-year old Di Natale can score 17 goals, then surely someone with Drogba's class and talent can score 15 goals if needed.
Valid argument, but we don't really need him to bang goals in Serie A now, do we? We just completed a historic season, amassing 102 points in the process, so Serie A is hardly a concern at this point. The logical next step is to make an impact in Europe.

It's cheaper to buy players who we can rotate our squad in the league with so that the starters are more rested for europe and can have a greater impact

I tried to say that about five times yesterday, but for some reason, people seem unable to read stuff once they made up their mind.

If this means getting rid of Quag and Vucinic, we'd free funds with this move.
Except we'll still need a 5th striker. Who'll also need to be paid, even if we loan someone. So we'll not be freeing up any funds. At best we'll be matching this year.

We had 6 (Tevez, Llorente, Vucinic, Quag, Gio and Osvaldo) available but only used two and now and then rotated one of both.
What makes you think we need 5?
Especially if the rumours are true that we are changing tactic to a 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 like tactic.

Because we have had at least 5 strikers in the Conte era. Only time we didn't was during the beginning and we signed Boriello in January to cover that. Conte will always want that number backup, even if he rarely chose to play them. At least that's what I feel.

Best rumour yet, once we sign Drogba, Arsenal are free to sign Llorente :lol2:

True, but that was because Conte wanted (needed) to play a 3-5-2, all will depend on how he wants to play next season.
Many teams only have 2-3 real strikers (Real, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG, Atletico and so on). And then I don't consider players like Ronaldo as a striker of course.
