i think that del piero is not performing spectacular football, i mean hes not being creative as he was before.

but his presence in the team, even on bench, affects the team positively.
moreover, he still shows his magic from time to time.
i think that juve must buy a player like d'alessandro or rosicky, and decrease the role of del piero in the squad, like putting him in a rotation system with di vaio and miccoli.

but his presence in the team is essential!!

well said....

We mustn't forget his markting value either... there's no denying that he sells a lot of shirts and he does put fans in the stands (not many though because it the Delli Alpi ;) )

<--- thinking like a Real Madrid executive now ;)

i think somebody like Aimar would still sell shirts

@ hasuna Boi (about the symbol of the club)
Buffon has more and more become the symbol of the club (becoz he's Italian) and if DP leaves and is adequently replaced, i doubt that we, the fans, would miss him THAT much.

plus Juve is doing fine after we sold Baggio, and Zizou, so what's the big hush.

Think about it this way, which current juve player will probably get a managment job in the team after he retires.
Nedved....(Not Italian--been in the club for three years)
Buffon......(Maybe but he doesnt have DPs charisma)
Zambrotta(If he gets it then Milan's general manager would be Ambrosini)
Tach.........(Not at all)
so you can see that DP is the only symbol currently at Juve.

I don't see how you can rule out Zambrotta or Tacchinardi. Niether one of them has hit their peak yet, and they have both been at the club a long time and are Italian. I could easily see one or both becomiing management of some sort. BTW, it's not that Buffon lacks charisma, it's that he doesn't score goals. People like goals.

That's why we are first in Serie A and qualified for the next round of the CL without him ;)

I've just realized that DP didn't play in the first 2 matches of Serie A, and
the 1st leg match against Gala.

I was confused now  Who then scored the 2 goals for Juve in the Gala match ??????

dp's presence is essential and this is most important, which is why you found me stating that.. "he contributes to juve on and off the pitch".

i understand the views of those who want to sell del piero, but even so I don't think you should do it now, at least not this season.

as for the symbol thing, i'll give a quote from our beloved pavel nedved: "I thank agnelli for his kind words, but I could never be the symbol of Juve, that's Del Piero."

Dp no longer means what he did to Juve. Fact of the matter is, we've overcome the Dp phase for better or worse. Which means it wont hurt to let Dp go if the price is good. One thing is for sure, it wont happen this season. But if it doesnt happen by the end of this one, we might just lose out on a decent amount of cash. And a good chance to build a more flexible team.

As for the symbol thing. I feel the fans needed a golden boy to pin their hopes on and thats when everybody turned to Dp. He led the way and after years of consistency and decent performances, i think Juve has finally moved on. And quite honestly, this current team cant be represented any better than by Pavel Nedved. Be it because of his work ethic, fantastic skill or even extreme humility that still makes him believe Dp is Juve's symbol.

DJ and GOAT.. you are really cool dudes.. but in DP matters you are really a pain in the Butt.

Your points are realisitcally good.
OK, sell DP for millions and buy 3 get players. Sounds fairly well. But in fact, if juventus will really want to buy t`hose players.. they will try to do that without selling DP...and they will grab at least one of those players u mentioned.

hey but...sincerely.

Give Up. Very deep inside yourselves, both of you knows that he will not be sold now, and ull have to wait 3,4 years to start to talk about selling him.

He is our captain and emblem, and besides he is not the same DP from the past, he is still a great player who can be used anytime. We have great forwards in case that he is not doing well, and when on form, DP is more than useful.

OK, he could be a shoker... but even that doesnt shade his good performances,, and just after his injury he was performing very acceptable.

So this move is very interesting for sure... but i mean,,, is not forcefull necessary, assuming that we can take something more out of him... without risks of underperforming because we have subs in case.

U are getting my point?. Forget about it dudes, really.

This is getting just annoying.

i completely agree with Hydde.

Seriously, like Hydde said many of those players you want will be bought by Juve anyway even if no one is sold. Its not like Juve are short of cash.

Its really disturbing to see how ruthless some of you can be - Del Piero has given us so many moments of joy over the years and you want to sell him all of a sudden.

He has been loyal to Juve - He could have left in 97 but he didn't.

I can't believe how inconsiderate some of you are.

I don't want to sell him "all of a sudden." I want to sell him to make room for Miccoli to develope if need be. We did the same thing with Baggio and he was just as legendary.

Baggio was legendary to Italian Football more than to Juve so its differant. Baggio was not Juve's symbol because he moved to many clubs.
