No way!!!
he will hang up his boots in juve. this news are crazy everybody knows that moggi would never sell dp. when moggi don`t want dp in juve, he had sold him years ago. DP`s only problem is to get in the first eleven.(He played super the last 2 games so it is a question of time that dp will come back to his form)

Del Piero would maybe add so much fire to Japanese football, so that they make a manga about Del Piero and football and later an anime ;)

Del Piero is an ambitious guy and if he becomes Capello's fourth choice when Mutu becomes available he may decide to move on, but for the same reason (his ambition) I don't see him moving to Japan. The Premiership may well be a future destination of his however.

you sure he is ambitous? ... he might also be smart and cash in on the Japanese's blind fanatical support towards him while he still has the chance.. he is very bigg here in japan... the next thing after David Beckham....

Yep, I wouldnt be surprised if he went for money in Japan, like Rivaldo, Batistuta, Romario, and most old players that finished in UAE, or Quatar, etc.

Yes, he is ambitious. He wants to play in Europe, he wants to win the CL, he wants to play in WC2006 and he wants to win the Golden Ball. He knows that he isn't going to accomplish any of those things if he goes to Japan and personally I don't think that money will effect his decision. He's already filthy rich so I don't see him abandoning his dreams and aspirations to play in a league whose quality is inferior just for a higher salary.

I would be, and all of the aforementioned players were older than DP when they moved on. If Alex goes to Japan it will be after the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Just my two cents.

yeah..but so do everybody ;).. just that Del Piero dont struck me as someone who is ambitous. There is no fire in his eyes or his efforts. More like someone who is too comfortable with his current situation.

Channel 4:

Japanese job for Del Piero?
Thursday 13 January, 2005

As Juve’s moves on the transfer market hot up, Bianconeri captain Alessandro Del Piero is tempted by the J-League.

The Italian international has a troubled relationship with Fabio Capello after being substituted by the Coach 17 times this season.

David Trezeguet’s return from injury, which sees the Frenchman start in Juve’s Coppa Italia tie tonight, could see Pinturicchio pushed back on to the bench.

The Azzurri star is highly rated in Japan, and a number of clubs have made it clear that they could offer Del Piero an incredible financial package, including J-League giants Kashima Antlers.

The Delle Alpi favourite has consistently refused a move away from the club which he has come to symbolise, though at the age of 30 his career has been winding down with a succession of injuries and long patches of poor form.

Meanwhile, Nicola Legrottaglie and Igor Tudor are close to agreeing terms for their transfer to the UK. Both players are being courted by West Bromwich Albion, who seem on the verge of pulling off an impressive coup.

The Bianconeri are cutting down on their squad after selling Mark Iuliano to Hector Cuper’s Real Majorca in a permanent move.

Dont think so!

The difference between Del Piero and those players is that they had already moved on from the club that made them big before they went to the middle east. For instance, I doubt that Batistuta would have gone to Qatar if he were still playing for a competitive Fiorentina when the offer came.

It seems it's becoming really serious!

I didn't believe it myself in the beginnig, but I believe it can happen.

Yokohama Marinos are believed to have offered a 2 year deal to Ale, were he coul earn 5,8mill Euro/year (480K/month !!)

But if I understand it right it would only happen after WC 2006.

Kashima Antlers are into it 2.

Personally I can see it happen. I mean, after WC 2006 he will virtually hang up his boots at Juve, and the go to Japan for two years, make big money and enjoy his stardom. After that, he can come back to Turin and become a member of the staff. I wouldn't see it as a betrayal (nor for Moggi, nor for DP).

My point is: DP has 2 choices after WC 2006:

a)hang up boots at Juve
b)earn big money in Japan, and then enjoy the money he made

Alex stated on many occasions that money is not the most important thing for him, so he can easily refuse offers from Japan. From other hand, he may leave Juve because he is losing his iconic status.

i tell you one thing, if the J-League offer juve a shitload of cash for him, and i mean 20 or so million, moggi would be stupid not to let him go.

    1. del piero leaves and joins a league which will not see him face the club or help out any other rivals (if he can get inform that is)

    2. Mutu and Zlatan can replace him.

    3. use that cash to bring in young defenders.

it really wouldnt seem like a bad idea considering Del Piero's position in the team is looking less and less every game.
