His first year here was always going to be tough. He needs to adapt to a new playing style and different expectations. He is not a striker, he is a winger and at Parma he used to have tons of space to roam, here he doesn't. Here, he plays with his back to the goal pretty much all the time and always has a defender in front of him and in his back. This is clearly not his strongest point. The kid is showing some glimpses of talent but needs to work on several aspects of his game. He needs to become stronger, more aggressive, and smarter on the ball. He has the talent but it's all about allowing him to flourish in the right environment, which we currently aren't.
Adapting? I hate that whole word when it comes to professional sports. If you're good enough, you don't need year or two to adapt, you just simply fit in with your football abilities. He should adapt of having his arse on the bench if we ain't seeing better results on the attacking third. Take a look at Chiesa for example: Guy is nothing but legs but keeps providing. Where tf is Kulu's work ethic or goal contributions?

He is 20 years old and in his second season of senior football, changing club in the summer. Plus he is playing out of position. Of course he needs time to adapt.

He would have had an assist if Rabiot has any attacking instincts.

He's 20 year old, with the +15 year background of playing football. He didn't come from cricket. Make yourself available, beat your man 1v1 or any type of duel, share the fucking ball and make quality passes, how hard is that?

but why he can't pass? or cross? or run into space?

also why is his neck so pink? is he a human or a hot dog?

Have you never played sports at an age group higher than what you are used to? It always takes time to adapt. The game moves at a different speed, the opposition are stronger, there is less space, players are smarter.

The concept of playing football is the same but it takes time to learn what you can get away with and the movements of your new teammates.

To be honest the season is a write off anyway. Making just about any judgement on a 20 year old playing out of position in this team is pointless.

He did superbly to turn his man, find space and pick out Rabiot in the first half. He did another good pick out in the second for Ramsey.

The pink neck I cannot explain.

You really are passionate about disliking him LOL

On a serious note...I refuse to criticise him...20 yrs old and used as a makeshift all season under a manager who is clueless. He is suffering just like so many older and more experienced players.

I will reserve my opinions until he plays under a proper manager who understands how to implement tactics.

He is 20 years old who came from a team whose primary target in a season is to avoid relegation. Now he is in an environment where 1. he is expected to win the Scudetto and 2. is played out of position. It's simply not one of his strong suits (yet) to have a center-back breathing in his neck and having to play with his back to the goal constantly. We are not capable of moving the ball fast and accurately enough to find him in open space where he can attack a defender heads-on. It's pretty clear what Pirlo expects from his striker and that's why went after Dzeko and Morata over the summer, but that is simply not Kulu's play.

Besides, even today he showed glimpses of his talent. A few turns here and there where he created those couple of chances for Rabiot and Ramsey. I am not sure who else in our team is capable of doing that in such a small space. Dybala, when fit, but that's probably about it.

He would have been on the bench wasn't it for both Dybala and Morata being injured. Again, he is playing in a position and a style he probably has never played in before (at least in his professional career), so I am not going to jump the gun on this one yet.

He is too slow. I miss Douglas Costa.
I miss Morata right now. 13 goals - 10 assists in 1850 minutes this season. Even with his terrible last three weeks while sick, still at a goal or assist every ~80 minutes.

I also miss Dybala who has a goal or assist every ~100 minutes for his Juve career.

I also miss Cuadrado who has 13 assists this season even with missing the past several weeks.

I don’t miss Costa who couldn’t stay healthy, and was mediocre in about 2/3 of his appearances when he was, including being mostly awful the past two seasons.

Don't understand the hate for this guy. I like him

We need players like him and Chiesa. Versatile. High level both technically and physically with an insane workrate for those European games.

No more lazy latins or south americans who are more concerned about their hair than tracking back

None of them are wingers (cuads is a rb). Chiesa has been good addition. Kulu is always healthy, while costa wasnt. But i miss his directness and speed. He wasnt healthy but whenever he was available he delivered. Unlike Kulu who is very slow. And lacks decision making.

He seems to have cooled off.

Chiesa has by far been the most consistent in offensive production. He needs to start delivering again.
