Always look on the bright side loosing him is one thing, but he will give Juve next gen so much fame. I mean, we did scout him and train him afterall and buying clubs will see this. From this perspecrive succes story like his will help us greatly.
But yesh, he should be playing here.
The only way next gen gets validation is if we have at least 4-5 players from next gen becoming starters for JJ

Inda had plenty of their players from their academy who were rejected by them and went on to become top players at other clubs so situation with Huijsen is nothing new. And let's be honest, if he was still here, we wouldn't have even used him properly and he'd be on loan at some shitty Serie A team by now.

I just mean that with a success story like Huijsen other club will have more courage in buying our next gen players. Its a pity he left and we do look like fools, but i always try to find some positives.

Having more courage like buying Huijsen for peanuts? Plenty of clubs will have that courage. We have some of the worst negotiators in the world so hard for me to find positives here.

His sale has everything to do with how Italians operate. The plusvaluenza on academy player is 100% as the book value is 0. That's why Junktoli likes to sell players like Soule for 30m and sign in inferior player like Nico for 30m in 4 installments.

We see the next gen as a way to generate transfer money for the first team, not really developing players after a certain stage.

It's a smart business model when you know what players to sell and which ones to keep, and how to actually manage the assets -- something we are not very good at.

There's also the intangible part where the fans lose that connection to the team when you sell home grown players/players brought in at a young age before they're established top level players that are good enough to be here, but are swapped out for outsiders that fans have zero connection to.

Fans like to see a foundation of a team built that grows together. We actually did a decent job at that over previous years. And Guintoli/Motta threw all of that away this summer to look for established players to win immediately -- and it absolutely killed the fan/team connection. We have zero attachment to any of these new players, and to be honest, mostly dislike them.

So in the end we got 24,2 mil... Not the thing I'd bitch about at that point. Letting him go in itself is enough to get mad about.

But damn, him earning 9m gross suddenly is insane. Shows the gap once more...

Really?
Win immediately?
Koopmeiners maybe fits (fitted) that category, but not a single other new player does/did.

Douglas Luiz and Nico Gonzalez are both age 27 and were both big investments and brought in to be important pieces for Motta

I don't know the exact figures, but when you spend €125+ million (and it may be closer to 150) in transfer fees on 3 players in their mid 20s, I'd say you're expecting them to be important pieces to help immediately

What would you classify those signings as? Long term investments for the future?

Don't get me wrong, I agree that those players were signed to have an immediate impact.
But, for me, these players don't fit the "win immediately" bill. Decent players on their day, probably, but nothing more. And it shows.
