From the little I’ve seen of Romero at Genoa and Spurs (not much) I concur with what others have said. Way too overly aggressive and card-happy. Would be a disaster with Serie A refs against us.

This is silly point to make. It hasn't changed that much. He played years in Serie A and became league best defender in his final season. He may get yellows, but he wasn't some disaster that would risk not playing all the time.


He isnt either for Spurs. Very good defender who is bit hostile in his defending style, but overall been very good for Spurs.

If you ask me, only Coman turned out to be bit of a loss because he had a reasonably successful career at Bayern.

And maybe Pogba for the reasons Alen mentioned. Even though we made a massive profit, we could've got a lot more from him both from a sporting and financial perspective had we kept him longer.

Other than that, JJ haven't signed/produced a lot of world beater 'talents' in general in the last 10-15 years.

It's not like Chelsea for example who sold Salah and De Bruyne who turned out to be club legends for their respective teams.

That sure was confusing, but i also do remember there was an excess of CB’s in our ranks at the time and choices needed to be taken, then Atalanta surely helped in raising his stock massively because in the last season at Genoa he was nothing special and perceived to be on a downward spiral.

Completely agree on the rest but i vividly remember him not impressing much in his last year(or maybe just the last months?) there, probably also due to Genoa having a poor squad overall but still, i always assumed that is why we eventually accepted to let him go for cheaper, aside from the fact we were rather stacked in the CB’s department at that time.
