From the August 2022 edition of World Soccer’s “talent scout” feature highlighting tomorrow’s stars today.

DEAN HUIJSEN

Juventus

The towering 17 year old Juventus centre-back is the personification of studied cool, unflappable in even the most threatening of circumstances. Quick to spot danger and an outstanding blocker of shots, whilst also technically assured enough to be the Oranje’s penalty taker. Grew up in Spain, beginning his football journey at Malaga’s academy. He has a big future ahead of him.

I thought he looked way better than I thought he would. Not that I think he sucks or anything, but he’s so young and not as developed physically.

btw Agresti is saying they’re pretty optimistic about a renewal.

Huijsen has been very impressive all things considered. Love how hes two footed, has no real issues playing on the left. His height and length makes up for a lot of what hes missing physically. He also looks pretty comfortable, like the stage isnt too big for him. The only reservation with him is he needs to get stronger, but hes only 17. Hopefully they get a new deal done and then next season he can start with next gen and then get promoted permanently. Between him and Riccio, maybe we dont need to add a CB externally. Riccio is ready for the first team, and Huijsen isnt far behind.

Just got promoted to next gen. Would not be surprised to see him with the first team as soon as he signs an extension. At 17, he becomes the youngest player on the roster, no one else is even close (Yildiz and Nonge could be next though.)

Quite the rise.

I think huijsen can be part of the first team next season. I think part of the reason he got promoted was because other clubs are probably after him hard, so wouldn’t be surprised if they were aggressive in promoting him to the first team as well.
