Infatti la società bianconera avrebbe individuato in lui l'erede naturale di David Trezeguet, che sempre secondo la stampa spagnola, a Torino avrebbe le ore contate. I problemi per l'approdo nel campionato italiano del 25-enne nazionale spagnolo sono però due: l'alto costo del cartellino, attualmente improponibile per le casse juventine, e la concorrenza del Chelsea di Abramovich. Nonostante la ricapitalizzazione avvenuta di recente e le notevoli entrate dovute alle eccellenti cessioni della scorsa stagione, pare molto difficile per il direttore sportivo della Juventus Secco strappare al Valencia un giocatore dal valore assoluto come Villa, specie se di mezzo ci si mette una potenza economica del calibro del Chelsea.
